Northwestern was 4-0 in the OOC, but are 0-5 in the B1G
The problem is the B1G just beats up on each other. No other conference has to deal with what the B1G has to deal with so its no surprise that a team dominates OOC but has trouble against REAL competition in the B1G. I'd put an 8 loss B1G team over any of the junk in the SEC just because their schedule is so much more difficult.

I like the sarcasm. However, wins over Cal (1-8), Syracuse (4-4), Western Michigan (1-8) and Maine (FCS, although a good one) points more to Northwestern just not being very good and not a victim of "getting beat up" by quality in-conference competition.

Now, take Ole Miss (5-3) with a win over Texas by 21 in Austin and losses to Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M (combined record 23-3) and there's an example of "beat up by eachother."

People would probably compare Northwestern and Ole Miss in-terms of being similar "quality wins", or lack thereof.

The thing that annoys the fuck out of me as far as NW goes is that I think their game with the Bucks was the one game they were at full strength because Mark was back for that game. And then after playing us, both him and Colter went down and the team is just a lot more vanilla and easy to stop with those two speedsters to worry about.

Led to a scenario where they looked very good in scaring OSU...and then completely fell apart to make everyone look a bit weaker in comparison.

Excellent post. I had this same discussion over the weekend, and it's nice to hear I'm not alone in this thinking.

Agree. They definitely "rose up" for that game. This is something a committee will be able to take into account.

Miami lost to an unranked team. That should hurt FSU, right?

Miami losing will hurt FSU but fact is Clemson still is ranked high and will be the win that carries them to NC game. Nothing OSU can do unless Alabama or FSU lose.

For OSU, it is too bad Mich St fucked the ND game up. If OSU/Mich st went into the B1G championship game without a loss, then I would assume that game would have been the semifinal game for the NC.
