THe CPD released a statement saying some of the reporting on this has been wrong. He also said it will be no more then a misdemeanor. Hoping to resolve it soon.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- There has been a lot of misinformation reported about the assault case Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde is a person of interest in.
"It's been reckless up to this point," Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner, who serves as the public information officer, told 610 WTVN. "Everybody seems to have a source and they're going with it. They think that whatever their source is telling them is gospel. Be careful because the investigation is ongoing."
Stories about the situation started with reports that Hyde punched a woman in the face and knocked her out at a downtown Columbus bar. Then it was reported that he hit her with his elbow. Yahoo! Sports reported that they had talked with someone that viewed surveillance video showing Hyde never struck the woman. NBC4 reporter Mindy Drayer reported Hyde did make contact after she was shown the video.
"There's more information that's not true than is true from the reports," Weiner said.
Weiner wouldn't discuss the case, but did say among the errors were reports that the victim was knocked out and that Hyde never touched the woman.
"You've got to be careful because people listen and people read and then they take that as the truth," he said.
Investigators have seen the video, but Weiner says that's just one piece of the puzzle they are looking at. He says the still have not interviewed the woman or Hyde. Weiner wouldn't talk about why those interviews had not yet happened.
"We have no horse in this race. Our interest right now is justice either for the victim or the accused," he said.
Police aren't putting a timetable on the investigation because Weiner says it will be looked at until there is no other evidence to look in to. At that point they'll turn the case over to the prosecutor.
"We're talking about a misdemeanor crime here. There won't be any felony as far as the facts are concerned," Weiner said.
Weiner says the most important thing to remember is that this case, no matter the outcome, has already impacted the lives of both the woman and Hyde. That's why he says it's vital to make sure they find out what really happened that night.
"I think we owe it to them that the process be allowed to continue and then we finally come to a resolution in this case," he said.

So basically it is certain that Hyde did touch her. But the extent of the contact and the circumstances of the contact, such as whether she swung first, is unknown to the public.

Especially in the situation Pick 6 described, a "he said she said" type thing. I had a buddy who just graduated from law school who was almost not allowed to graduate because his pyscho ex accused him of domestic violence (completely unfounded). The school disciplinary authority told him he had a close case, even if it didn't seem close at all.

If Pick 6 can confirm this (don't know how many details you know), I'm willing to guess that a second incident of reported domestic violence, even if not enough for the legal system, was enough for the school's disciplinary system.

I'm not about to read this whole thing, but I did do a quick search for "domestic" and no results were found.

All I heard was that he was caught up in some political BS. Apparently some higher up has something against the basketball team for whatever reason. Could just be some fans with their blinders on, though.

Anyways, like I said, no need to talk about it anymore. Didnt mean to start a little crap storm. I can confirm that his ex is crazy, though.

Ready for the video to be released so we can end all of this speculation. Has there been any verdict on Roby's incident/punishment?

I'm on my phone so it's hard to bring it up again, but I posted a link ok the previous page that shows it was the second of two domestic issues. It still seems like he shouldn't have been kicked out of school, but two incidents is obviously going to be more punished more severe than one.

Seems to me the CPD is looking pretty bad right now. No reason a misdemeanor isn't closed 6 days later.

What do you expect with Sgt. Dick Weiner on the case?

Columbus PD says no charges for Carlos Hyde.

Now what, Urban?

The video will be released to the media this afternoon. I would still expect some sort of suspension, unless the video shows absolutely no contact.

I'm interested in seeing the video and agree that unless it's conclusive there was no contact there will be some sort of punishment.

The "victim's" statement per nbc4:

http://www.nbc4i.com/story/22967294/alleged-victim-speaks-out-on-assault-case-naming
Keeping in mind what is for me and my family I have decided to refrain from filing charges at this time.

Some of the media has rushed to judgment regarding the incident to ensure they are the first to report the information, whether it be factual or false. This has been overwhelming, frustrating and disappointing. It is unimaginable to be exposed to these false reports, claims and rumors and for anticipated 4 months expected to bring this incident to a conclusion.

I would like to thank the Columbus Police department for their patience and professionalism they showed conducting their investigation. They have advised me I have up to two years to consider criminal charges.

I believe the video, if released, will speak for itself when shown in its entirety and not edited or censored.

Thank you

Her statement says to me, maybe once you're in the nfl I'll pursue something. But like the cpd said, hyde could also press charges. So this is probably the end of it.
Interesting tho that she released the statement exclusively to channel 4, where drayer kinda took her side, and her father went to high school with Drayer.

If Hyde is shown to be 100% innocents, then immediate reinstatement and we forget about this entire dumbass situation.

If Hyde did make contact, light contact, or whatever...then 2 game suspension and we forget about this entire dumbass situation.

Based on everything I've read, I'm expecting contact was made (sounds like a bitch slap, worst case scenario ; love tap, best case scenario). Therefore, I'm expecting Hyde will be reprimanded in some fashion (whether it be extra wind-sprints or sitting out 2 games). Seeing as how the first 2 games are vs. Buffalo and vs. San Diego State, I wouldn't be surprised if Urban went with the more harsher of the two options (i.e., a 2 game suspension) and sat Hyde for the first two games. We should be able to win those two games by sending out our B-squad, so if anything, this might actually be a BENEFIT (i.e., keeping Hyde safe and injury-free) in the long run (less hits leading into Michigan).

I trust Coach Meyer to do what he thinks is right, and whatever that may be, it’s good enough for me. GO BUCKS!!!
