Have to pay the bills, and we need a house with 3 bedrooms and a yard. We can't afford it much closer to my office. I try to do it just 3 days a week. For the most part it works out.

A few miles west of Heathrow Airport. It is nice to be so close to the airport, but to take the train in to Waterloo it is very long.....and very expensive.

Not the tube, First Great Western trains. Non-airconditioned and not cheap. It costs me about US$40 to commute from Windsor station either to Waterloo on one train or to Paddington via Slough on the other.

It is clean, and it is for the most part reliable....but holy crap not cheap.

Ohhh. I'm clueless when it comes to anything but the trains to small airports and the tube. London is HUGE. I lived way north, Hendon.

8..only problem is the long commute (about an hour). I love the pay, hours, work, people, etc.

It could be a little more technically challenging and that would make it better (the work is not hard).

Facilities- 10 (love having a private bathroom)
Pay- 9 (hard to complain, company car)
Flexibility- 9 (set own hours)
Stress- 5 (some week are better than others)
Work- 7 (some people are idiots, but hey half the population is below average)

I'll rate it a 8.33

I would never want to drive a car around NYC let alone try to find then pay for a parking spot.

But I would look for public transit if possible over taking a cab every day.

5... Money and benefits are very good, hours suck. I work a swing shift, different shift every week. It's also very hot as I work with copper beryllium furnaces that go from 2000 to 2600 degrees.

I'll say 7. Work isn't bad at all and we're a division of a larger corporation and recognized as the best at what we do (supply chain/procurement). With that said our corporate culture blows due to constant restructuring. Due to this our department is shrinking. Not by layoff but because of voluntary attrition and no replacing of those who left, which has left us without a manager. As senior in our department I've taken over most of the tasks our manager had as well as continuing in my old role. That kind of blows but I'm young and look at it as good experience. Wish the compensation kept pace with the added responsibilities but who wouldn't want that? I am overall content with where I'm at but always keep my eye out to see what's on the market. So far nothing seems like a better situation.

Commute- 8 (very short drive because I moved, but traffic on the way home is annoying. I live ~5 miles away and it takes me over 15 minutes to get home)
Facilities- 10 (big, brand new building on the nice side of town)
Pay- 3 (the person above me left, and his work waterfalled onto me. I wasn't given a pay adjustment for doing twice the work, and mgmt is dragging their feet hiring a replacement. been three months now)
Flexibility- 4 (I have a set schedule and can only use vacation time 2 weeks in advance, been working forced OT lately due to the above)
Stress- 2 (aside from working two peoples jobs on top of everything else I was already doing, the director thinks I am his assistant)
Work- 3 (The work itself is tolerable, but there's too much of it. It's very "streaky". Sometimes there's little to do, sometimes there's too much to do.)

to me, the stress and work outweigh any perks to the job.
