A little riot broke out in Oaklamd (shocking). I can't get over the fact that some people pictured in this link actually shed tears over the verdict. Must have no knowledge of the law or the case. I love how that article talks about a teenage trayvon martin, but continues to only show that picture of him from when he was a child... any blood this verdict causes in on the medias hands.

Let's be honest, most people don't have knowledge of the law or this case. Even on this website we have people posting things such as how the judge was biased because of the rulings on the admissibility of evidence when they don't know the fine distinctions of the rules of evidence that can be the difference between admission or no admission.

I think twitters main function in society is to expose those who want to be heard with little care about accuracy, validity, or truthfulness. Last night was just another showcase of that function.

That's an interesting point. If this hadn't been blown up into a racial issue, would Zimmerman's case attracted a high-profile defense team? He would only have been able to afford a much more mediocre attorney, and when you aren't working you might be stuck with a public defendant. In that scenario he might be taking your plea deal.

I don't know, when you have crime in your neighborhood and see some acting suspicious that you don't recognize...not sure that is profiling. And I don't think it's wrong to question them. But maybe there's a more non-confrontational way to approach that - many people might get offended, most wouldn't resort to physical assault.

Can't stand people talking about this case, who haven't actually read the facts. Don't know why but I just got in a 20 min argument about this with my friend, who says he can't believe he got off on these charges. Guy hasn't even read the 911 transcript.

What's really sad, is this guy is about to graduate Law School.

Then why did O'Mara say he was going after the state attorney's office for sanctions because of the things they did in the case like not cooperating, withholding evidence, etc?

And what does O'Mara going after the state attorney's office have to do with what was bolded by you in my post? Nothing. I was talking about people criticizing the judge with no basis.

What does not punching himself in the face have to do with this at all? GZ approached TM, not the other way around. So had GZ not been playing cop and snooping, then the two never would of even exchanged words, therefore he initiated their encounter.

TM punched GZ and made it violent. That's all that matters. TM assaulted GM and paid for it.

You can't go "if he didn't get out of the truck" without saying "if TM just went home." It came down to the prosecution had no case for second degree murder or manslaughter because of stand your ground and self defense laws in Florida. Both peoples pasts do not matter. Did GZ feel more powerful because he had a gun? probably, but he had it legally, and was within his right to follow someone, for whatever reason. The second TM punched him it throws everything leading up to it out the window.

I've said before though, and some people agree, if TM was white or GZ was black then this would've never made national news. This is the media race baiting the country because it gets good ratings. The media are pigs who report angles that will get the most reaction.
