If you can't take a little ribbing about your family on an ambiguous message board then the mean streetz of the interwebz are to tough for you.

It's because this whole forum is a joke and it's turning off new members. I had a new member message me the other day saying he'd love to post more but the moderation is too inconsistent and he's looking for another forum to post on. I probably get 3-6 messages a day from members practically begging for the moderators to get removed from duty and to install new moderators that I handpick. The only thing I can tell them is that I don't run this forum and to email the one who does but they say he doesn't respond to anything that doesn't praise the current moderators.

It's piss poor leadership on all levels and it needs to end. We all know the problem but there are some who refuse to do what is necessary to correct it.

Thread banning would work if it was used more. Unfortunately it too is inconsistent. It has gotten a little better but still needs a lot of work. As long as a mod can continually fight with posters and nothing happens, it will always be hard to enforce to many of the rules. Mods should be held to a higher standard then the rest of us morons and receive harsher penalties for their actions. It would improve the whole arguing about family members thing that etb and gochiefs constantly bicker about.

My opinion's basically the same as Hasbeen's. It'd be best if no one brought in family members or undisclosed personal stuff, but if someone's being an asshole to someone else and the second person has info he/she knows will piss off the first person and uses it...well, the first person can take that as a lesson to not be an asshole to that person.

It's a message board...it's words...in the end, it's all meaningless. It's just hard for me to care enough to take the effort to punish someone for ripping on a family member of another user when that other user made a point to provoke them into an argument. And when it winds up coming down to two people ripping on each other for a time where various insults and stuff are delivered on both sides, it's just pointless to pick one specific thing that was said as "over-the-top" when both people are basically being douches to each other.
