JV's win again and had some nice ball movement and team play after a slow 1st quarter start.
Does anyone know the JV record?

Nice to see RR1 make another appearance last night and saw Pitman last week.

Was a nice win. Can't imagine there's too many teams in the district who will be too excited to play us.

Ely. Catholic may be the 1 team that's played an equally tough schedule with a better record than us.

Will be interesting to see the seed we get, especially if we beat NW'N tonight. Probably a 5-7 seed but I could see us in the top 4 too.

Riders1,
Jv had been fun to watch. Kids get after it and share the ball well.

I think you should be in the top 4. I would add Elyria Catholic, Oberlin and whoever finishes second in the WCAL (likely the winner of Waynedale/ Norwayne next week. I'm not sure about the order. Orrville has proved that they never get the seedings right anyway.

Here's the full bracket: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BCxQDznCYAARTf5.jpg:large

Riders get a 7 seed. Thought that was a little low..but we have 5 wins..so whatever.

We're not playing Kingsway, Black River and Central Christian. We get to play Senior twice every year..a team who just beat St. V. last night.

Doesn't really matter the seedings in a district this wide open...it's the team that can put 3 or 4 good games together. I'll take our team and put them up against anyone.

Seeding doesn't matter..I really like the way the Riders are playing right now. They are playing as a team, no one is trying to do too much, good ball distibution..Keep it up and we'll be ok.

I think a nice draw for the Riders, Black River is not very good so should be a W. Oberlin very athletic team I think will cause us some trouble but I like our discipline better if the game is tight, but this I feel will be a tough one for the Riders. All the top county schools are in the bottom bracket Orrville, Oberlin and Elyria C. in top bracket....interesting.Should be another fun district.

That draw shows that being in the conferecne we are in gets us ready for tourney! We have 5 wins and people are running from us??? That says it all right there.

I think it is very obvious that Orrville has as good of shot as anyone to advance to Canton. Would they still improve like they have this season if they didn't play "up" most of the season? I've always admired how Orrville's schedule really prepares them for the tourney. They might lose some of that preparation if they leave the OCC and go into a smaller conference.

5-7 win seasons aren't pretty at all...but it does prepare us for tourneys. How many times in the 80's did we go 20-0 or 19-1 and lose in districts. Now granted, those losses were to good St. V. teams and there's no team approaching that in this district.

Last game to be played in the current gym this week. Kind of bittersweet in a way. Always nice to get into a new building (gym), but leaving this one will be tough. I have fond memories watching the teams of the early and late 80's and then getting to play in the gym in the early/mid 90's. The old striped warm-ups, the pep-band playing, the crowds lining up at 4:30, the fans right on top of the action, all those wins....and of course Coach Smith.

I sure hope they honor him in some way...Steve Smith Court @ Bob Knight Gymnasium

Oberlin lost to Wellington and Wellington wasn't impressive, but having said that we can have our moments. Got to see some players in the last win that we haven't seen much. I think we missed like 6 put backs in a row, but Ty White can get up.

This is coming from a lifelong wrestler, who would not know good basket ball if it hit me in the face, with that said ,I have seen about 50% of the games, and I love how this team keeps fighting, got to love the effort they put out there, the Landis kid has to go home and just collapse, he leaves it all on the court, good luck with the remaining playoff games, and thanks to all the young men for their effort

Well said Rider Dad. The effort has been fantastic. I am surprised you are not in Columbus watching the Orrville wrestler in action. Good luck to him and the girls tonight in Tourney action.

The seniors seem to be leading and thats exactly what you want happening at this point in the season. It also helps when the primary players are getting pushed hard in practice by the younger guys. The younger kids are also starting to show that they belong and can play with the speed of the varsity game...and thats nice to see!

If you were at the girls game last night did you notice Trinniti Hall defending the inbounds plays, I swear if you look at her in film in slow motion you would see a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] arm in there, my goodness she got a huge wing span, and quick too, she will be fun to watch in the future. Good to see the girls not get rattled during the slow start, and come back strong in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 4[SUP]th[/SUP], probably won’t get away with that against CCC. Wish we would be playing Smithville, more of that local flavor.

Wish I could have went, kids in JO volleyball and another in 6[SUP]th[/SUP] grade basket ball tournaments, the state wrestling tournament is a site to behold, be nice to see waynedale go deep in the tourney again. Enough wrestling talk on a basketball thread don’t want to get in trouble.
Good luck tonight boys and girls on Sat
