The season is 4 weeks away and this year will be a 22 game schedule and includes a Sunday afternoon game at the N.Canton Timken Mercy Classic at Hoover High School against Carrollton , a team I don't recall playing in any recent years. Also Northwest is the opponent in the WQKT/Smitty classic at Wooster College. Does anyone know who the returning players and new ones moving up will be?

Starters would likely be Summers, Landis, Smith, Short and would have been Zook not sure how serious his injury is? Lichti, A. Simpson, Kayron, and Gibson off the bench would be my best guess to start the season. Would not be surprised at some point if the Smith kid that is a freshman gets a look at some point.

No heighth this season seems to be the glaring weakness, rebounds will be hard to come by.

There is a kid named Rawlings that could have some playing time.

Zook is 3-4 weeks out if he decides to come out. Kyle Ritchie would be another off the bench if he decides he's playing.

Dalton is supposed to be pretty good this year, so that could be an interesting scrimmage.

This will be the smallest Orrville team in quite awhile. I would guess they might struggle mightily in the OCC this season, but they'll still have as good a shot as anybody in the district at Wooster. I heard the Smith kid that is a frosh could be moved up also. I heard that a JV/varsity guard transferred to Dalton. It seems that Orrville has plenty of depth at guard so that shouldn't be a problem.

Last season in the "House that Smitty Built."

Maybe Flash can answer this...will the Bob Knight Gym name move to the new gym? Heard that it would but don't know for sure.

Still think there needs to be some sort of recognition for a 3-time state title winning coach that's in the Ohio HS basketball HOF.

If nothing else, just a "Smitty" on the baseline or somewhere in the gym. Or a banner listing his accomplishments.

Couldn't agree more. Smitty needs to be honored in some way...not just a plaque in a trophy case!

I still like the sounds of "Steve Smith Court" @ "Bob Knight Gymnasium"!

AGREE 100% ! Way overdue but would be perfect timing in that it's a brand new facility.

"Smitty's Court" @ "Knight's hardwood Gymnasium"!

I heard that the Smith boy (freshman) may be the only player in any of the lower class levels for B ball.... Small doesn't mean they can't win just may make it hard to win them all. Good defense, smart ball handling and hustle can go a long way in high school basketball. Lets to Riders and good luck to coach Slaughter!

Watched some of the foundation game. We're going to have trouble getting the ball up the court, but then Short wasn't playing so he may help. Have some outside shooting and we may have to rely on that, but not very strong rebounding so that will have to be a team effort. Probably not a winning season, but yeah we didn't have one last year either and I'd call last season a success.

No Zook this season. Resting that knee injury suffered in the Wooster game. Tough one to lose as he provided some spark off the bench last season and was one more athlete on the court.

Hard to believe things get started this week for basketball.

On the girls side, Hannah Plybon is 100 points away from the all-time scoring mark in school history. Barring injury, she'll have the record by Christmas.
