Step 1: Buy bottle of whiskey.
Step 2: Pour in tumbler. Add ice cubes as necessary.
Step 3: Drink whiskey.
Step 4: ??????????
Step 5: Profit!

If a president doesn't, I think they have stress-management issues.

This was supposedly before he was president. Allegedly he stopped drinking the day his 40th birthday. ALLEGEDLY.

What's a good, inexpensive whiskey to start with? The ultimate goal is to project the image of appearing sophisticated while actually knowing nothing and yet still having an interesting vice.

If you wanna appear sophisticated above and beyond others, don't put in ice. Instead put in a splash of water. Adding ice actually dampens the bouquet while adding a splash of water enhances it.

I was saying this because a newbie to whiskey might cringe at the bite of some whiskeys, and the ice takes the edge off the bite.

For avoiding the sour face but not adding ice, AND looking to not break the bank, I'd recommend a Balvenie Scotch. Smooth and little peat. Only runs, what, $60 or so?

If you're not going to add ice, and you're relatively inexperienced, I'd steer clear of bourbon or anything "cask strength."

I have a set of whisky stones, anyone with experience using them? I know it just allows you to chill your whisky without dilution. I'm guessing I should get a weaker whisky to start out with since I won't be diluting it?

I think I am going to run to the Party Source tonight to pick up a bottle of something. My wife is going to dinner with friends tonight so I'm going to get shit faced while she's out. Whether or not I get domestic when she gets home is up to her.

I have them. Only used them once or twice. IMO, not worth it. Just drink it straight.

I prefer chilled drinks but I'll obviously try it both ways.

You don't need a weaker drink. It'll taste better w/o ice. Personally, i prefer it room temp than cold.

I prefer to heat it in a skillet, but I will drink it cold.

I'm currently sipping on a relatively cheap bourbon: Woodford Reserve.

I'm committed to continuing to be blissfully ignorant of bourbon and wine, so that I can enjoy the cheap stuff.
