They bitched and complained all day because it was no longer "exclusive." Why did they even care? Oh, because a ton of them think they are better than people without iphones.

Lol this is definitely true. I have had 2 iPhones now also. I had the 3GS and I have the 4 s right now. Honestly I could give 2 shits what phone someone has. I like my I phone and I don't think I will be changing anytime soon

Both OSs have a group of giant idiots that think their OS of choice makes them better than everyone else. Just like politics. Just like everything else. Our "pick a side" culture is annoying as fuck.

Just pre-ordered the 5. Verizon and their new data plans can suck a dick.

I agree with this. But anyone saying iphone users don't care is wrong, which is why I replied to it.

Is there any benefit to going to the Verizon store over a place like Radio Shack or Best Buy to pre-order and set up service?

Not really, unless you're trying to weasel your way into an early upgrade.

Do BestBuy and RadioShack charge a $30 upgrade fee per phone?

John: why is there an upgrade fee?
Kinberly: I can understand your frustration regarding the upgrade fee today. This upgrade fee is charged to help us continue to provide educational tools for our devices as the devices are getting more advanced now. We can provide online workshops, personal consultations, reference materials, as well as support applications! This will be better help you to become more accustomed with your new device!
John: is this charged everywhere or just verizon?
Kinberly: This is required for most companies like AT&T requires a $36.00 per device and the Sprint requires a $35.00 per device.

Would that be the case for a new account? Or just if you were already on Verizon and then upgraded? Either way, that's bullshoot.

I just upgraded - they give you a $30 dollar discount for a new contract then charge you $30 to upgrade, it's a wash. I have verizon.

Check with Costco if you have access to them. I'm not sure if they'll have the iPhone or not, but they usually include a pretty good accessory package with new phones. When I got my bionic, I got a car navigation dock, desktop dock, extra battery, a case, and a car charger for free. Ended up paying less there than I would have at Verizon.

It's both. I did it online but my dad had the same charges in store.

I am a Costco member. I will check them out. Thanks for the tip.

They don't do preorders so it probably wouldn't be on their website. I'd just call and ask to speak to the wireless guy. He'd be able to tell you if they'll carry it. I think they only carry a handful of phones for each carrier and are usually the newest out. I called the day before release because the accessory package was leaked online and all he could tell me was they would have 6 phones available but the package was legit. Worth a shot though if you are trying to find a good deal.

I hope Samsung retaliates with patent lawsuits against Apple and bankrupts the company.

People that own Apple products are the worst because they never shut up about how much "better(they aren't)" then every other product on the market. People will take out a second mortgage just to be "cool" or hip with their new overpriced Apple product. It's a joke and its fraud.

It's true. My banker was literally chomping at the bit to write me a second mortgage for $299.
