I'm excited for iOS6 and the iTunes update. As for the phone....doubt I'll get it.

What were you really expecting? Pretty much everything out there right now is marginal upgrades - these phones (outside of some games) are more powerful than what current applications can even fully harness. Yeah, it would be cool to have a phone as powerful as a laptop, but there's no real laptop applications!

It's got LTE, right? What more did you really expect? Pretty much about OS capabilities going forward (and at which time they can run a fully functional integrated Office suite you'll THEN need some serious power).

Forgot to add - it's Apple. They no longer innovate, they litigate.

Looks pretty nice. If I had an upgrade right now I'd think about getting one.

From a practical sense, it's a nice phone. From a technical perspective, it's nothing too special for today's market.

I expected better resolution and a better camera. Hell, even the new Lumia 920 has better specs than this and it's a Windows Phone which are usually behind in the spec war (because the OS is really optimized but still).

But better resolution is overkill. Beyond like 18" from your face, it IS a retina display. Pushing more pixels doesn't do the battery any favors, either.

Agree on the camera. No one seems that interested in breaking barriers there.

I thought 512ram in the dual-core version was really weak. IOS doesn't need as much memory as Android because it multi-tasks differently, but that's lame. I wouldn't touch a phone with less than 1gig ram these days.

Nokia is.

Better resolution isn't pointless and who gives a shit if it's a "retina" display. It's lower resolution than almost any other high end phone coming out now.

What about the ipad? Anything worthwhile about it?

You understand what it means to be a retina display, correct?

Was thinking of selling my 4s and picking up the 5, but I think I'll just hold tight until the 2nd generation 5 comes out next year(on my contract cycle). I just don't see anything I really need on the 5.

You understand that's just a proprietary term that doesn't mean anything right?

Other phones on the market have higher resolution. Them not being called "retina" displays doesn't make that inferior. Off the top of my head the Inspire and the Lumia 920 have both higher overall resolution and higher pixel density than the iPhone 5 screen. What is it about the "retina" display that makes it so much better in that case?

Wonder how long it is before they get sued by Nokia?

I dont have any expectations. All I'm saying is that Apple didnt do a good enough job making this phone say "You should replace your 4 for this"

Not real impressed with what they put out phone wise....under spec'd. Oh well, not like I was going to get one anyhow. I figured they would have something to shock people other than the fanboys....but there are a ton of phones out there that are better. With them losing some market share over the last few years, this was a wasted chance at gaining it back.

I think the Rezound, S3 and maybe even the new Razrs coming out have better pixel density. I don't understand how anyone could have this phone and the S3 side by side and choose the iPhone....unless you want a smaller screen.

We all say it's underwhelming, as do the analysts.

Apple will still probably sell 100 quadrillion of them on launch day though.

No doubt, people are faithful to apple for sure. I, however am not faithful to my HTC brand anymore.....fuck this phone.

S3 has better resolution but not pixel density. But it's hard to compare because the S3 uses Pentile I think which instead of 3 subpixels uses 2 and shares with those around it.

The Rezound is indeed better, 342 ppi. iPhone (4,4s, and 5) is 326ppi. Lumia 920 is 332.

I'm not faithful to any brand. I love the shit out of my Samsung Focus S but my next phone will likely be the Lumia 920 over the next Samsung Windows Phone simply because the build quality and camera seems better.

Someone's marketing shouldn't be on the news. They should be commercials.

LOL.

You realize that marketing and advertising these days isn't just tv commercials and print ads right?

Yes, based on the fact that the human eye can't distinguish a higher density of pixels. Higher resolutions are a waste of money and battery.

I got rid of my 4 last year for a note. I like it but I'll be getting the S3 instead of the 5. It just seems like a very minimal upgrade. Plus the screen is still too small.

Oh really? Thanks for the insight.

Point is, they can have their event and it can be covered by the tech world. But CNN? Fox News? No. It's not "news".
