Big East is saying ND will have to pay $5 million and give 27 months notice to make move to the ACC.

I imagine Swarbrick will get that notice lowered

Or they'll just throw a ton of money (and they have it) at the BE to shut them up like everyone else has.

I think its a great move.

Question is, imo, who do they keep on the schedule. Do you keep all 5 of Navy (for sure), UofM, USC, MSU and Stanford? Could even throw in Purdue to that equation.

I know they can keep all of them on the schedule, but will they? I think its too much, year in year out, to be playing them as well as possibly (2 of) FSU/Clemson/VA TECH/Miami Fl.

That's the same as the 36HR RT van ride to Houston or 32HR RT van ride to SMU, or the 34 HR RT van ride to CFU with the new additions to the Big East right?

BTW, Ga. Tech would only be ≈ 22HR RT.

Or pay the higher bail out price like Pitt and 'Cuse did.

Notre Dame's football schedule will actually be pretty brutal every year

5 ACC Schools
Michigan
Michigan State
Purdue
Stanford
USC
Navy

Then 1 random game to fill out the 12th. It's probably easier for them to complete a schedule now, but damn.

Beat me to it. I bet they'll have to for a while because all of those games have long contracts. Also, ALL of those games are traditional rivalries. As Notre Dame (from a rivalry standpoint), who do you kick off the schedule? Which rivalry is the most meaningless?

They don't play each other in 2018-2019.

In order:
SC
Navy
Michigan
Michigan State
Purdue
Stanford

The Michigan series is taking a two year break soon too.

I'd think they would want to keep Stanford on the schedule though. Maybe rotate the B1G schools moving forward, they have a series with Texas in two years and i think a 5 year deal with byu starting this year.

Why do they get the ACC bowl tie-in if they aren't playing football in the conference?

Not to be a smartass but probably for the same reason they had a Big East bowl tie-in even though they didn't play football in that conference.....because they can.

Gotta believe the ACC is anticipating ND joining the conference in football at some point. And because of that, were willing to give in to quite a few demands, mainly on the football front, to get them to switch from the Big East.

With the way it's set up, assuming ND never joins for football, the only purpose ND serves is to potentially fuck ACC schools out of BCS at large selections.

Michigan, Mich. St. and Purdue are now likely to drop ND from future schedules.

I guess my question wasn't clear. It was more along ts's thinking. Why would the bowls accepts ND as an ACC school if they are independent?

Swofford just said they have to be ranked higher than an acc team to take their spot or be within one win to be eligible to take the spot. Again, if it were such a horrible deal for the acc schools, ND wouldn't be joining.
