I'd rather see them in the B1G. IMO, this would be a huge loss for the B1G.

This.

Although ND does have a kick ass indoor track, probably only two or three around here may actually care.

380 meter track indoors, practically an outdoor track built inside.

(edit)

B1G told ND if ya come to our conference, it's all sports. ND chose ACC so it could exclude it's football team.

I bet the football team eventually joins the ACC. Give it a year or three.

That is stupid, not sure why its even news. No different than them being in the Big East for all other sports.

I've barely seen anyone reporting on it, so most aren't viewing it as news. Just kind of mentioning it and moving on

Makes alot of sense to send your Girls Golf Team to Ga Tech on a 36 Hr RT van ride but then again the Catoleigh Church never does anything the smart or easy way.

As for the move, its perfect for Notre Dame. Big East is falling apart, even for the Olympic sports. As every one that had a clue has said the whole time, football independence was Notre Dame's top priority. 5 acc games will help with the scheduling that would be increasingly difficult with conferences moving to 9 game schedules. It also gets ND into the south much easier for recruiting while still keeping SC/Stanford for CA and possibly Michigan/Sparty/Purdue for the Midwest. ACC basketball >> Big East basketball as well.

It just seems that every year we hear about them joining this conference or that conference---in everything except football. I've got to believe that there's a segment of ND fans that are tired of these back-and-forth scenarios just as others are. Selfishly, I wish they'd just join the B1G (for ALL sports) and put an end to it, once and for all.

They just did? If forced to join a conference for football, it will be the acc. ACC upped the exit fee to $50 million today as well.

When I saw this on here earlier I couldn't find a damn thing on ESPN. Apparently they picked up on it since 8am.

I see that? I was just expressing my opinion, and as I stated, it was from a selfish standpoint. I definitely see where the advantges lie in joining the ACC, and let's face it--if they were forced to join for football, it's a tad bit easier conference to navigate. Smart move by Swarbrick, et al.

Just saw ND will also be a part of the acc's bowl tie ins, which is huge. Their options are really limited currently.

Of course not, how dare I even think that?

That being said, I don't know how the scheduling of which teams in the ACC they're going to play will be handled, but I hope we get to see ND/Miami, ND/FSU, ND/VaTech matchups in future.

Not a fan of this move. If they're gonna put a foot in the door with a conference...I would've preferred that it had been the B1G. Obviously the Bowl tie-in and potential recruiting pipeline is nice but I think that the B1G makes more sense. JMO

^^^gotcha'--and I can just imagine how hard it'll be to get a bball ticket in South Bend for Duke, UNC, etc.--again, great move by the powers-that-be at ND.

Foot in the door wasn't happening with B1G though. All or nothing.
