I agree. I wasn't excusing the 4 day hold. Just that the comment didn't really make sense since speeding wouldn't have much affect on him. ;)

I'm pretty sure there are probably laws on the books that don't allow for law enforcement to let people rot in a cell without food or water.

if you told me i had to go 4 days without water or food and then i could win a multi million dollar law suit against the gov't i'm game. Seriously, how do you get caught in a drug raid, you have to be pretty fucking stupid. Now he'll make out pretty well, no sympathy.

I agree with that, but the penalties must fit the crime. Just because he broke a law doesn't mean all bets are off.

I'm glad my brother-in-law and his friend that were arrested the night of my bachelor party for public intox weren't left to die in their cell. According to a few on here it would've been justified, I guess.

I agree with this. If he were more than a pot smoker most people wouldn't give a crap.

Agreed. however, this four day isolation wasn't his punishment, he wasn't sentenced to this. Someone locked him away and forgot about him. I think too many people are overthinking what really happened here.

"don't do the crime if you can't do the time"

So the time for smoking pot is in jail for 4 days with no food or water and being left to die? You guys are retarded if you think that.

You're right, it wasn't his punishment. It was negligence that was, apparently, okay.

Agents stormed in at 9 a.m. the next day and swept him up as one of nine suspects in a raid that netted 18,000 ecstasy pills, other drugs and weapons.

Some people are saying it was excessive because others are saying don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Exactly. It's 100% the DEA's fault this happened. You/rawdawg were trying to argue otherwise. Which is just dumb.

Where does that say anything about him having ANY of that?

He wasn't charged with anything. He should have been released right away and he wasn't. Instead they "forgot" about him and let him sit in a cell for 4 days.

Criminals still have basic rights, correct? Especially those who haven't been charged with anything. I'm not wrong on this, am I?

The agents didn't charge him criminally and even told him they would drive him home, but apparently forgot about him in a holding cell, where he languished for days.

Doesn't sound like he was involved with more than pot.
