If you have no reason to go, such as it being your kid, there is much better quality entertainment than watching HS sports, such as college or professional sports where the quality of play is much better. Granted College or Professional sports aren't always on, but I generally don't believe it is worthwhile to attend a HS sporting event. If in general a person thinks a high school actually is more entertaining than a higher level of sports (College/Professional) that person is probably a bit weird and hasn't let go of their high school years yet. But as I've stated before, there is a small exception for when you have a truly gifted HS athlete (LeBron) that I could understand wanting to watch it.
To imply that what you deem as entertainment should aspire to everyone, is absurd.
I enjoyed watching Cavalier football before kids, during kids and will enjoy watching after my kids have graduated. If I, or anyone enjoys it as entertainment, who is anyone to deem it wrong. The MAC is a collection of small towns with a strong backing of their schools, whether they have kids in school or not. As Chesney's song says,
"In little towns like mine, that's all they got" That largely rings true around here. Sheltered life, perhaps. Wrong, NO. The success that the MAC has seen seems to imply that they're doing something right. We like and support our HS sports. Nothing creepy about it...just different from what others may deem as entertaining. Small country town life. Not the bright lights of the city. If we enjoy it, fine. Please don't look down on those that enjoy HS sports. If some are exposed to more avenues of entertainment, I'm not going to say that that is wrong. It's a social event and afterwards many end up at the local Eagles, Legion, bar etc. and continue the socializing.
I don't like the general assumption that older people watching HS sports, enjoy nothing else or possibly have another agenda. Though there are perverts out there and we all should keep an eye out, let's not automatically lump everyone of the higher age group that watches HS sports in that category.
Most, if not all of the fans around here also enjoy watching college and/or pro sports on TV. They just don't go to the games. In the fall I watch the Cavs of Friday nights, the Bucks on Saturday and NFL on Sunday. Again, this makes me "creepy"??? I think not.

Really???.
Generally around here you get to know your neighbors well. To want to watch your neighbor's child perform at the HS level, IMO, is a form of flattery...not creepy or perverted. I've received compliments from my neighbors about my son's performance on the field. Creepy??? Absolutely not. It made me feel proud as a parent. As a matter of fact, my neighbors have boys that are always playing football in their backyards. When they get to the varsity level, I will enjoy watching their sons play the game as well.
And that makes me creepy???
Our views are different, possibly from different upbringing or exposure. I enjoy watching HS sports and will continue. It does not make me "creepy".
