Planting flowers does not constitute curb appeal. Regardless, I'm glad you brought up "pride in ownership" because PIO, in real estate terms, results from a combination of curb appeal and showing well.
Here's why what Con Alma said Is super dumb:
curb appeal: maintained and clean on the outside
shows well: clean and organized on the inside
He's basically saying he doesn't care if his house has the above qualities. His obvious problem is that he's hung up on the wording in the phrases and being stubborn about the semantics. "Appeal" and "shows" imply other people being involved (ie buyers).
Though, since his house is not for sale and no other people are involved and there is no realtor to speak those terms, he is saying he doesn't care if his house is clean, maintained, and organized overall. THAT and that alone was the original conversation. Several people thought it was a dumb thing to say. Unless, of course, maybe Con Alma is dirty white trash and really doesn't care that he lives in filth. Because that's what he's really saying.
Let's see how he spins this now lol.
