He's VERY good but after Mangini trading down for Alex Mack and then Heckert trading down for Phil Taylor, I think another trade down for a lineman would make the fan base ballistic.Commander of Awesome;1078320 wrote:Which Olineman? I'd do anything for a Super Bowl caliber team. Who cares if its only for 3 years? You're telling me you wouldn't trade 2 first round draft picks to be a contender?shook_17;1078315 wrote:^^ no. i don't want a team to just compete for 3 years then fall off the side of the earth. id rather save my picks and draft players that are young and going to be around for awhile.

If his health permits, Manning will be around longer than 3 years. With today's QB friendly rules, I think you're going to see QBs last longer and longer.sleeper;1078342 wrote:Who cares if its only for 3 years?

Possibly, but honestly who gives a shit? If Heckert/Holmgren are making moves based on how they feel the fans will react, then I don't want them making decisions for the team anymore.BR1986FB;1078334 wrote:He's VERY good but after Mangini trading down for Alex Mack and then Heckert trading down for Phil Taylor, I think another trade down for a lineman would make the fan base ballistic.

though being a Browns fan i had to chuckle......some guy won $50,000 in Vegas betting that the first score of the Super Bowl was going to be a Giants Safety, odds were 50 : 1,, the Browns making it to the Super Bowl in 2013 odds are 150 : 1......so the odds are better that the first score of a Super Bowl game being a safety are a lot better than my team making the Super Bowl......

No chance I give up 3 first rounders to get Griffin. I'd be willing to give our #4 and our #36 this year to get him, but that's it.

1. who on this forum would be willing to do this ?
2. would you do that if Indy passes on Luck?
3. I f RG3 is there at 4 and someone offers you 2 first rounders, do you take it or pick your QB for years to come?
4. if both are gone because someone sold the farm for RG3, do you move down? How far down are you willing to go ? If New England offers you both of their late first rounders, do you take it ? Would you guys be happy if they went defense at 4 ? Another CB ?
Just curious what every body thinks

1. who on this forum would be willing to do this ? Not I said the pig.
2. would you do that if Indy passes on Luck? Due diligence. See what it will cost to move to 2. But I'm still against giving up 3 first round picks, even for Luck.

Would you guys be happy if they went defense at 4 ? Another CB ? If RGIII is gone at 4, trade down. Ideally to the 12-15 range. Add another 2nd rounder this year and a 2nd or 3rd next year too. I'd still target a WR at that spot (Wright or Floyd will probably both still be available).
But obviously this all depends on what happens in free agency. Combine starts in 2 weeks. Looking forward to it.

1. not 3 1sts
2. yes if Colts take RGIII (imo Luck is going to be better)
3. i take the picks, draft playmakers around Colt, and see what happens this year
4. I would trade down, but it would entirely depend on what we get in return

2. That would make things very interesting. Hell, St. Louis might take Luck and trade Bradford in that situation who knows? If that's the case I'd offer both 1st rounders this year and a 2nd next year. You almost have to go all out for Luck though.
3. Another first rounder would be nice but it would have to be pretty high. If RGIII is there at #4 you have to take him and take care of the QB situation once and for all.
4. Moving down would be an option but you have to consider taking Blackmon or Claiborne. You need to get playmakers.

2. I wouldn't do anything because St. Louis will take them. I don't want to give up multiple firsts for any player. It's too much to invest in a player that hasn't proven anything yet.
3. No, I take RG3 at 4 if he's there.
4. I trade back, try to grab another 1st, do something similar to the ATL trade. Ideally, if we trade back, we take a WR so BR and his infinite wisdom can say we finally have a true #1.

Just for the record. In no way would I trade both first round picks this year plus a fourth to move up, like the article suggests.

Even though it is only 2 spots, I have long though St. Louis would want both our firsts and at least our 3rd (probably our second instead).
There is a premium in the league for franchise QB's, and when you are trading for the right to draft one the price is higher than if you were trying to come up to get a corner back. It is just the way it is.
Speaking of corner backs, I heard today across the KNR programs that there is talk that Morris Claiborne is probably #1 on Heckert's board. They can't take another CB that high, but apparently the Browns really like him. He probably is one of the safest players on the board, but we don't need any more DB's.

We get him, we can move Sheldon to FS. Thus improving two positions at once and adding to our depth.

Not top 10 pick db's.Mulva;1080264 wrote:Oh yes we do.
The Patriots and Giants (who just played in the Super Bowl) were not trotting top 10 corners out there.
Use high picks like that on pass rushers before corners.
Philly had all world corners and didn't even make the playoffs. The next team that wins a super bowl with a pair of top 10 corners will be the first. We have one already, that is enough.

That's all irrelevant to the claim of whether or not they need to upgrade the secondary. It's either a yes or no, and the answer is yes.IggyPride00;1080280 wrote:Not top 10 pick db's.

This, it doesn't really fucking matter what the Pats or Giants did. If you want to go by other teams, the Packers had 3 pro bowl DBs on their SB winning team. The Steelers defense is so tough imo because of Polumalus ability to free lance the field.Mulva;1080286 wrote:That's all irrelevant to the claim of whether or not they need to upgrade the secondary. I would be fine with the Browns taking Claiborne if RG3 isn't there. The secondary would be set for years to come barring any injuries. Sure as hell don't want to give up 3 1st round picks to move up 2 spots. Fuck that.

Also, the top 3 corners on your Super Bowl champion Giants were taken in the 1st (Ross), 1st (Amukamara), and 2nd (Webster) rounds. Both starting safeties were 1st round picks as well. They weren't top 10 picks because Super Bowl contenders usually aren't picking in the top 10.
