If Shurmur wants to keep his job he won't be so stubborn/ridgid with his WCO system and will adapt to the talent on the roster, NOT try to fit square pegs into round holes. Unfortunately, for the fans sake, I doubt he does this.like_that;1263605 wrote:If Shurmur wants to keep his job, he better start playing him.

This too. Playing from shotgun would be nice, but I highly doubt little patty boy allows it.BR1986FB;1263613 wrote:If Shurmur wants to keep his job he won't be so stubborn/ridgid with his WCO system and will adapt to the talent on the roster, NOT try to fit square pegs into round holes. Considering Shurmur is a dumbass I don't see him doing anything other than what he knows. Which isn't much to begin with.BR1986FB;1263613 wrote:If Shurmur wants to keep his job he won't be so stubborn/ridgid with his WCO system and will adapt to the talent on the roster, NOT try to fit square pegs into round holes. This, to me, could mean the difference between success & failure with this offense. Weeden just doesn't have the quickness to get into those 3, 5 & 7 step drops fast enough and STILL see the field. This is where McCoy would have a bit of an advantage (mobility) but he's just not good enough.like_that;1263615 wrote:This too. If Shurmur doesn't use more gun, it's going to make this O-Line look worse than it is.
It's times like this that you wish you had a flexible HC like John Fox (see Tebow) that would adapt the offense to the QB's strengths. Even the first year HC (Rivera) in Carolina dumbed down that offense to play to Cam Newton's strengths.
Shurmur's stubborness will be his downfall.

I am sure Weeden is working hard to get his drops down, but in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to play more out of the gun until he figures that shit out. I really don't see why Shurmur is that damn stubborn when it comes to the shotgun, especially when it is on obvious passing situations (3rd and 8).BR1986FB;1263629 wrote:This, to me, could mean the difference between success & failure with this offense. I understand Shurmur not wanting to go from the gun on earlier downs because unless you're running a spread/read/react type offense you are essentially neutering your running game. Much easier to hand a ball to a RB who has a three yard running start, two yards deep than to hand it off to a RB 5 yards deep from the shotgun.like_that;1263640 wrote:I am sure Weeden is working hard to get his drops down, but in the meantime it wouldn't hurt to play more out of the gun until he figures that shit out. Not going from the gun on 3rd & long is just asinine and asking for Weeden to get killed.

Exactly. Like I said, on obvious passing situations, I don't see why the gun is out of the question for him.BR1986FB;1263652 wrote:I understand Shurmur not wanting to go from the gun on earlier downs because unless you're running a spread/read/react type offense you are essentially neutering your running game. Preseason's over and the first game is upon us. How many wins for the 2012 Browns?

I'm still sticking with 7. I think they will start out pretty bad but will improve in the second half of the year.

19-0 Trich and Weeden tie for MVP votes across the NFL.BR1986FB;1263662 wrote:Preseason's over and the first game is upon us. How many wins for the 2012 Browns?

Also look at a lot of the other WCO in the league that are all brought back to Holmgren: Eagles use shotgun a lot, Packers use shotgun a lot, the Vikings were in shotgun a lot with Favre/Childress...I don't get why Shurmur is so set on being under center.

Most of those are also "pass first" type offenses with proven receiving weapons. If the Browns had GB's wide receivers they'd never have to run. Shurmur is going to have to have T-Rich carry most of the load.OQB;1263708 wrote:Also look at a lot of the other WCO in the league that are all brought back to Holmgren: Eagles use shotgun a lot, Packers use shotgun a lot, the Vikings were in shotgun a lot with Favre/Childress...I don't get why Shurmur is so set on being under center.

Apparently the Browns are going to "recognize" Modell in some way, shape or form at this Sunday's game. This should be interesting....(BAD idea)

I called my ticket rep and they said they know of no plan for anything for the game Sunday. I did tell them I was completely against the idea and to pass it along. Was told they were getting comments from fans against the idea and would pass it along.BR1986FB;1263795 wrote:Apparently the Browns are going to "recognize" Modell in some way, shape or form at this Sunday's game. I hope to hell there isn't one word, even if mandated by the league, uttered at the stadium for Modell from the PA announcer.
Baltimore can cheer him as their saint, I don't care. But, in Cleveland, he will always be the villain.

If we're lucky, maybe they can get Lebron to sing the National Anthem too.

I did hear that the Ravens will be wearing a special patch this season to honor Modell.

I hope so. I would be pretty pissed, and that would be a stupid ass decision by the front office to have their players booed on opening week, before even playing a down.BR1986FB;1263893 wrote:LOL...not likely.

Good for them. He wasn't a scumbag POS for them. If he was able to live 200 years he would have been a POS eventually.killer_ewok;1263901 wrote:I did hear that the Ravens will be wearing a special patch this season to honor Modell.

If they DO have this, I hope the fans turn the stadium into a holy shitstorm of "momentum" and fire the Browns up. Don't want anything stupid/violent to put another black eye on the city but would love for this to somehow work in our favor....perhaps force the Dog Killer into a few interceptions/fumbles due to noise?

What I said wasn't meant as a,"Well, Baltimore is doing this for me Modell so Cleveland should...." comment. Just saying that the Ravens will be wearing a patch to honor him this season. Thought that might be of interest to you guys. Ravens-Browns games have potential to be more chippy this season. Ray Lewis loved Art Modell.like_that;1263908 wrote:Good for them.
