As a bengals fan I think you are all being to hard to Richardson. I know you are used to injury prone picks but he wasn't hurt in college very much and a knee scope is pretty minor for a 21 year old. As long as teams can't stack the box against him all day his speed and power will show. I really think he could have a great season if used right by the coaching staff.

May be the only way to tolerate getting through the game. The game--and the season--are not going to be pretty! 2 wins max

Pretty weak that we're 5 days away from the Eagles game and the Browns, (and Joe Haden) still don't know the status of his suspension....

Seems to be a trend with Goodell of late.

Peter King in his Monday morning QB column I think said the league and the refs are effectively $4 million a year apart (aggregate) right now, and yet we are going to have replacements out there.

That is a rounding error financially for a $10 Billion dollar a year business.

I generally like what he has done under his tenure, but he is getting sloppy. The Bounty Gate thing has been bungled, a bunch of players still don't know their suspension status, he is using high school and D2 officials when he has made player safety a hallmark of his regime.

This is not exactly the well oiled machine we are used to seeing at the league offices.

The cost for officiating is most likely under misc expense in the NFL balance sheet.
Looking forward to the regular season and see how well this goes when games count.

That is actually a fact, they were talking about it on the NFL channel on Sirius the other day that the referees don't even have their own line item in the league balance sheet. They are under misc.

Not joking.

oh yeah, that 2009 Browns roster was pathetic other than the OL.

So take Adderal...4 game suspension.

Kenny Britt and the law
July, 2012: Britt was arrested and charged with driving under the influence when he was stopped entering Fort Campbell military post in Kentucky. Britt failed a field sobriety test, but refused a Breathalyzer. He's waiting for a court date.
June, 2011: Britt surrendered to Metro police and was released on bond after providing false information on his driver's license application on two different occasions. The charges were eventually dropped.
June, 2011: Britt was arrested at a New Jersey car wash and charged with tampering with evidence, obstructing a government function and resisting arrest. Police say Britt crushed a cigar containing what officers suspected was marijuana. The charges were downgraded to disorderly persons offenses. Britt eventually pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace and was fined $1,500 in Hoboken Municipal Court.
June, 2011: A felony charge against Britt in New Jersey was downgraded to careless driving and a $478 fine. This followed an April 12 arrest on charges of eluding police officers, lying to an officer hindering apprehension and obstructing government function after a stop.
February, 2011: Theft-by-deception charges against Britt in New Jersey were downgraded to misdemeanors. Two bail bonds companies accused Britt of not following through on a pledge in court to pay bail for a friend was who arrested in January 2010. That $12,500 payment was made earlier in 2011.
October, 2010: Britt was involved in a barroom fight at a Nashville club. One man accused Britt of punching him in the face during the fracas, and said he needed four stitches. After an investigation into the incident, however, Nashville police did not charge Britt.
August, 2010: Britt received a misdemeanor citation in Nashville for driving on a revoked license. Police said they pulled Britt over because his car's window tinting was too dark.
January, 2010: New Jersey police suspended Britt's license after an arrest for outstanding traffic warrants. Britt paid $865 and was released.
= 1 game

Yeah, I mentioned this over on the NFL thread. EIGHT offenses in two+ years gets you ONE game off. SMH...not condoning what Haden did but c'mon?

The substance abuse stuff I think is set in stone at 4 games but if they are going to keep it at that, they need to make a hard guideline on number of games for off the field stuff. This "discretionary" stuff is BS.

What the NFL has managed to do is put attention on the last thing they want attention on. If and when the regular officials come back, they will be more scrutinized. The replacement officials will be heavily scrutinized for the time they are on the field. The common fan wants to see the players make great plays, not watch the replacements attempt learn on the job. Not sure why they would want this in order to reduce the pay of the officials for a product that is increasing revenue ( for one see Buds new contract over Coors light’s old contract) does not seem practical.

Not just that.. Britt committed crimes! Things that are against the law! Haden simply took something that Roger Goodell feels should not be allowed in the league. He's such a joke. I'm sure Britt will redirect his behavior after a 1 game suspension... get a clue, Goodell!

Agreed, completely and utterly ridiculous for a 4 game suspension for banned substances and yet a 1 game suspension for additional ink on the criminal record.
