It's got nothing to do with whether I have "faith in Weeden" or not.

As Iggy said, they don't need McCoy around so all of his diehard nuthuggers start chanting McCoy's name EVERY time Weeden makes a mistake and he WILL make mistakes as a rookie QB.

It has nothing to do with peer pressure toward the coaching staff either as any competent staff won't bow down to the fans.

The fact of the matter is that Weeden is their guy and he doesn't need the ham & eggers chirping in his ear for McCoy.

First of all, I think you are overestimating the amount of "McCoy nut huggers" out there. I don't think there is many at all. Second of all if a few "put in the backup" jeers are going to rattle Weeden and fuck with his career then he doesn't deserve to be a starting NFL quarterback.

Lastly, I still LOL at iggy being dramatic. It always brings the lulz. We get it Iggy, you don't like McCoy, but lol at thinking he is going to have any impact on this season. Unless Weeden gets hurt, McCoy isn't going to do shit. He sure as hell isn't going to create a QB controversy. The staff has already seen what Colt can do. If there was any controversy, Shurmur wouldn't have named Weeden a start right away. So what if Colt QQ'd about it. He is a human being, it is natural to be upset.

I bet there are a helluva lot more McCoy supporters in Cleveland than there are people who want to see Weeden succeed. There are a ridiculous amount who still think McCoy got a "raw deal." At first, I thought it was just the clowns on local sports talk but it's not.

Weeden doesn't need it. It's unnecessary to have to deal with that as a rookie.

My biggest problem is just that Weeden shouldnt have been given the starting job outright without having to earn it. You know Im a McCoy fan, but if Weeden ends up good, then so be it. I still believe it is just a desperation move from Shurmur to cover his ass. Even if Weeden sucks this year, he even has the excuse "he is developing". McCoy may not have shown much, but I dont see how you can think he didnt get a raw deal. I dont know the stats, and Im not going to look them up, but I'd imagine Weeden is the only QB this DECADE (probably longer) drafted after the top 10 and just handed the job. No competition or anything.

I don't buy that. If you took a poll I am willing to bet it would be in heavy favor with moving on with Weeden. There are plenty of teams throughout history who had a popular average at best QB be seated by a top pick. If that top pick started succeeding, nobody gave a fuck. It's all about the wins. Nobody is going to root for Weeden to fail, especially if he is winning.

Andy Dalton (selected 35th) last year. Didn't have to go far to find that. :D

McCoy HAD almost 25 starts. You make the most of your opportunities. If he had shown promise (made the limited talent around him play at a higher level like GOOD QB's do), they probably would've given him another year but he didn't.

Don't have to "buy it." I see the hatred from the McCoy supporters EVERY day. It doesn't occur on here but there are some first class jackholes hoping for Weeden to fail.

fair enough, although that was a unique situation.

But then I ask, Dalton came in and did a good job, even took the team to the playoffs. So why does Weeden, who is older, get a pass if he doesnt do well?

He probably won't. With new ownership coming in, this could be a one year audition. If Weeden turns out to be "DA Part 2" I'm sure the new regime will want to bring in "their guy." I just pray it's not Barkley if it happens.

Hard to tell, but like I said a few pages back, I heard Haslem has a real hard-on for McCoy.

I still think the franchise is better off with Haslem as an owner.

Would "neither" be an option?

Just curious, why not Barkley?

I dk if he has the arm strength for the nfl. He has a better arm than McCoy but Barkley is also a very smart qb. I think he will be an average to good qb. I honestly love the guy from Washington. I think he will be the best of the qb class

if weeden doesn't pan out, i would like an SEC qb, tyler wilson, aarron murray, tyler bray. i don't think barkley has the arm strength to be "great" in the NFL.

If I talked to a dozen mentally retarded kids, and they all said that Aaron Rodgers isn't a good QB, does that give me the right to claim that there are a lot of Rodgers haters out there? And that just because I don't hear it on here, it's definitely out there that he's a terrible QB?

Because that's exactly how you sound right now

S&L has a point here. Br keeps bringing up these "McCoy nuthuggers" that he hears from "every day" but none of them are here.

Br, if you want to make a point make a point, but don't bring in a bunch of OTHER people who DONT post on here who DONT represent anything anyone on here has expressed.

Pete Carroll obviously agrees with the McCoy nuthuggers, just sayin. I would give Weedon the ball to start the season. But if he sucks ass, then he sucks ass. Period. If he sucks ass, then you put in the other guy. That's how sports works.

So far in preseason...and it is preseason, the best quarterback to date has been McCoy...and it's not even close. I don't care who plays...as long as the guy who plays gives the team the best chance to win. Pete Carroll said "fuck you" to management, and is parking the ass of his 10 million dollar quarterback.

I don't follow this crap even a tenth what you do, but I don't buy into that at all. Browns fans want to win period. They don't give a shit who leads them to victory.

Why? The OC represents a miniscule sampling of the Browns fanbase why radio (local/national), along with newspapers and various browns websites/message boards give a much larger sample. There are MAYBE 10-15 people on this site who are consistent Browns posters.

I'm not saying Russell Wilson is or isn't going to be a stud but comparing him to McCoy is laughable. The ONLY thing they have in common is that they are short. Wilson is MUCH more mobile and his arm is way better. Sitting a Matt Flynn, who's skillset is marginal, isn't a huge shock. There's not much difference in what he brings to the table vs Wilson (accept Wilson is more athletic). Comparing McCoy's popgun arm to that of Weeden's is also a joke. Weeden's your QB. Deal with it.

True, but you would think if that rumor is out there at all, someone on here would be saying it. I'll take 15 credible Browns fans' (the 15 on here) opinions over thousands of hilljacks calling into a damn radio show.

I'm the biggest Weeden critic there is, and I think he should be the starter 100%. There's not one credible fan out there who thinks Weeden shouldn't be the starter...so stop bringing up a bunch of morons wanting McCoy and passing it off like there is some sort of fan/QB controversy.
