I don't make an "outlandish prediction" every year. I picked the Cavs to make the playoffs the year after LBJ left and I was wrong. You want an ipad for that?like_that;1249368 wrote:If you make an outlandish prediction every season it is bound to eventually come true. You have diluted the meaning of your "bold" predictions. I can see the day when it finally comes true and you try to brag about it.
That year became a train wreck because their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th best players were shelved for the year by injury. The Browns will compete for the division this year if several things happen.
1. They stay remarkably healthy...something they never do.
2. Childress works magic in the offensive passing scheme in getting the receivers open. I believe that he will.
3. The right side of the line plays better than average.
4. Their defense builds over last year and elevates their play.
I don't think Pittsburgh, Cincinatti, nor Baltimore are elite teams. Pitt and Baltimore have come back to the pack a little bit.
What I did do....I made a hefty wager on the total wins over 4.5 games this year.

I agree, they will need a perfect storm. It happens every year with at least one team in the NFL. That was the point I was trying to make.BR1986FB;1249376 wrote:Derek Anderception also had proven receivers in Braylon (ready to breakout at the time), K2 & Joe J. These guys are going to need some seasoning. Is the upside/talent there? Sure, but the chances of that type of "perfect storm" happening are about as likely as Grady Sizemore avoiding his annual vaginal infection amd going on the DL.

i actually agree with what S&L said earlier. he made a great point. the browns roster will be like the 49ers next year with another draft. a decent amount of talent and shitty coaching. shurmur needs to make the playoffs to stay here i think, which they won't. so they will bring in a new head coach and now we are talking. this isn't an anti shurmur post, i like the guy, hope he is successful here.

They are just going to bring 85 back duh... I mean shipley wouldn't be that bad would he? One of the best things is he can run routes right?bases_loaded;1249420 wrote:Must be a reason, not like they have the patriots wr corps.

I mean what's the worst that can happen? We bring him in, he blows, we cut him. I dont see why we shouldn't give him a try. And yes, he's an excellent route runner.Mikey McD;1249425 wrote:They are just going to bring 85 back duh... I mean shipley wouldn't be that bad would he? It looked to me like they were in cover 2 and he just trailed the WR some because no one else was in his zone. I could be wrong.Pick6;1248749 wrote:I think he was, but it stil doesn't change the fact he was in man.

Didn't you make a case that the receivers werent as bad as they looked last year? Before Colt was the problem, now it's just the WRs.BR1986FB;1249376 wrote:Derek Anderception also had proven receivers in Braylon (ready to breakout at the time), K2 & Joe J. Shipley is coming off a torn ACL and has only been able to really practice since July 30 I believe. Its not that the Bengals are loaded but they have enough solid guys and Shipley just physically isn't up to par yet. I do think he can be a good receiver in the league though.

How is Baltimore not an elite team? They just went to the AFC championship game last season.Footwedge;1249385 wrote:I don't make an "outlandish prediction" every year. I picked the Cavs to make the playoffs the year after LBJ left and I was wrong. You want an ipad for that?

The jets made the afc champ game 2 years in a row and aren't elite. But, I'm with you on this. I think the ravens will be in the elite category for at least 1 more year.

I said that they will come back to the pack a little bit. I don't think they are an elite team this year. And I also think Flacco is a below average quarterback. A guy who sucks in the clutch...unlike Eli and others.bigdaddy2003;1249463 wrote:How is Baltimore not an elite team? They just went to the AFC championship game last season.
For 3 years or so, I watched in horror as Flacco single handedly snagged defeat from the jaws of victory against Pittspuke.
This year, you should see the injury bug hit the aging Ravens on defense. Ed Reed had an incredible bounceback year...I don't expect him to play at that level this year.

Yes, I should've threw in the fact that they've made the playoffs the last 4 years and were in the AFC championship game last season.Rotinaj;1249475 wrote:The jets made the afc champ game 2 years in a row and aren't elite. I guess we can agree to disagree. I think the Ravens will win the division but that is what I'm going to say as a fan.Footwedge;1249491 wrote:I said that they will come back to the pack a little bit. They weren't as bad but we still didn't have a K2, Braylon (at his best) and Joe J. Or perhaps I'll explain it in a language you'll understand....we didn't have a Jason Witten, Miles Austion or Dez Bryant last year either. :rolleyes:Pick6;1249461 wrote:Didn't you make a case that the receivers werent as bad as they looked last year? Baltimore's going to take a step back. O-Line issues and the loss of Suggs is going to hurt. Pittsburgh will likely be in a world of hurt too. I picked the Bengals 3rd in the division but from what I'm hearing coming out of their camp, wouldn't surprise me if they won the division. I'm still skeptical until they beat a .500 team though.bigdaddy2003;1249463 wrote:How is Baltimore not an elite team? They just went to the AFC championship game last season.

I honestly think the whole division takes a step back. I only see one team getting to the playoffs, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is a subpar record.

That obviously does mean something (they're a good team). But it still doesn't mean they're running away with their division. 4 game lead is not running away with it, especially since the Braves are showing no signs of giving up on the division.Footwedge;1249388 wrote:Yeah I know. If I were a betting man (which, I am), I'd bet a good amount of money the Braves win the NL East.
