I also read an article this morning that had this sale gone down in January that Peyton Manning very likely could have been a Brown. Apparently, Haslam & Manning are pretty close.

You guys are getting ahead of yourselves. Haslam would be a dumb fuck to just blow everything up.

If they pulled that shit I can honestly see Browns fans giving Haslam the same treatment Dolan has been getting.

I don't think it is Haslam that we need to worry about blowing up the team. The wild card here is Banner. It seems that he was always in a power struggle with Andy Reid in Philly and a lot of the philly players were glad to see him gone. I recall they used the word "unlikable" I think that was because he handled a lot of contract negotiations and was very tough to deal with etc,.

Exactly...plus I've heard that Banner is a prick when it comes to contract negotiations and considers them his personal "war." With Joe Haden & Alex Mack coming up soon for contract extensions I don't like the sound of that.

EDIT: Sorry...just saw your contract negotiations comment.

Yup..no way they blow everything up. Media obviously are going to write that to get more viewers. Whenever there is a change, they're going to throw some shit out there because no one knows whats actually gonna happen so they can't really be blamed for being wrong.

Well if this guy is truly about building things the "Steeler way" he will keep most of what's in place, in place, for the sake of continuity. Banner scares the Hell out of me even though he's VERY good at what he does.

Haslam plans on running pilot along with browns at the same time. So maybe holmgren stays.

Daryl Ruiter‏@RuiterWrongFAN Haslam said will have naming rights at some time. Not sure about changing uniforms & doesn't think culture is defined by that.

Just referred to the Steelers as "that other team". I like it.

Hope the old school/traditionalists are ready for some "change" because, although it won't happen immediately, I can see some changes to the uniform/helmet (logo?). Haslam said that he's changed the logo of his company several times and he is a marketing guy.

^ I can see fans going ape &*() of the change, more so if the losing continues. When you're winning, the pedestal is bigger.

People seem to be upset that he's going to do it the "Pittsburgh" way of building through the draft and not spending a ton of $$$. Guess what, if we are in the playoffs year after year and winning Super Bowls, who cares!!!

H&H have changed the personnel and the roster is very young and exciting. Change is not always good, but I feel this is all good and moving this organization to contenders in the playoffs consistantly.

I doubt it will be any drastic changes, especially after he gets an understanding how passionate the fans are. I can see him bring back the Brownie, and the orange jerseys though.

I really hope he does bring back Brownie and the orange jerseys those were awesome. But I agree I don't think he will do anything too crazy if he does change anything.

I've been arguing for years to do it the 'pittsburgh way' because that leads to long term stability. Anybody with two eyes and a brain can see the Browns improved dramatically from 2010 to 2011 and that was just one year of working on the defense. This year, we aimed for offense. Sure, we might be a little sluggish with all these rookies making their usual rookie mistakes, but we are going to be competitive and resilient. I personally think 8-8 is attainable and sniffing at the playoffs this year is possible if the rest of the division is weak enough we can sneak up on them.

To blow this up would be ridiculous and I hope to hell we don't. We've got a lot of young guys and can finally go from 'building from the rubble' to 'putting the finishing pieces together'.

We've been doing the "steeler way" (I just threw up saying that), since Heckert has been here. The fact that people are acting like now things are going to change bc of ownership are kidding themselves. Just remember how everyone was bitching that we didn't sign any FAs, and now they're talking about the steeler way and drafting well. lol

The "Steeler Way" is bullshit. Every team would love to build through the draft. Saying that teams should do things the Steeler Way makes it seem like it's a choice and not a goal. Like somewhere out there a front office might be shocked that they're allowed to draft good players and build around them.

Also, it's easy to do things the same way when it works and you win. When you suck every year it doesn't make sense to do the same shit over and over.

Dramatically? Please. Going from a 20% to a 30% is still a miserable F.

I'm one of the older Browns posters on here and, to be honest, I couldn't give a flying fuck if they came out on the field with jockstraps over their heads and toilet plungers up their asses if it brought a Lombardi trophy to Cleveland. Logo on the helmet? Bring it! Shake up the uniforms? All for it! Cheerleaders? Fuck yeah!

I'd love to see them take the orange helmet and add some of that glittery look to it ala Ohio State's.

FUCK tradition...since 1964 what kind of "tradition" has this team had? A tradition of fucking losing, THAT'S what. Change, change, change...bring it on! And fuck those NASTY orange jerseys.

I agree with you except the orange jerseys. Those are sweet. I'm all for a logo except that pussy leprechaun. Not intimidating at all.

Not too many remember the Go girls back in the sixties. Or when Carling Black Label presented "the biggest show in football"

Fuck doing it the Pittsburgh way. No need to pay off Super bowl officials.
