No officials at practice unless they are there as NFL scabs getting work in prior to the pre-season games.like_that;1239045 wrote:Did Shurmur bring the refs back for training camp this year, or is he still too stubborn for that?
I think that Holgrem got rid of it since it was a Mangini idea (albeit a great idea from him) and he did not want any Mangini idea around.
I don't think that they need the officials, last year they were high 20's in fouls both yards and number. The two years prior when officials were at practice they were like 3rd & 5th. I think they only committed 7 fouls in the first quarter in the first game and had a head coach run into an official. No need for officials at practice.

And with Haslams previous ties to the Steelers, it won't be long until we start hearing about Bill Cowher buying a house in Strongsville.

I worry much more that the wrong decisions are being made than Holmgren/Heckert being fired. I'm not saying keeping them or firing them is the right decision, moreso that I'm afraid of making the wrong decision more than I am about making the right one.

"Our challenge is candidly the Cleveland-Pittsburgh rivalry is not what it when you were growing up. Our challenge is to turn the Browns into a team that will once again regenerate that rivalry."

Haslam at practice this morning with his dad (both in Brown's T-shirts & shorts) strolled out to the field with Holmgren & Heckert.

This should make S&L giddy...
A Bad Day For ... The Cleveland Browns are understandably excited for the change in ownership despite all the questions it brings. It was not a good day for rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden. The 28-year-old rookie essentially has a one-year tryout for the new Browns regime. A new coach and general manager are likely. They usually want their own quarterback, unless Weeden performs too well this year to be denied.

It should make everyone happy...unless our QB is really really good, they're going to get someone in there who is really really good. Sounds like an elementary plan to me.BR1986FB;1239565 wrote:This should make S&L giddy...

Or weedon has an ok to good year and we draft a qb and he's another McCoy/ Quinn. Then we just got rid of a qb that can actually be solid for another dud.

They said the same thing about Richardson too...1 year trial or he could be gone as well.SportsAndLady;1239608 wrote:It should make everyone happy...unless our QB is really really good, they're going to get someone in there who is really really good. Sounds like an elementary plan to me.

If Weeden has a good year, I HIGHLY doubt the new regime (which may not actually happen...dont listen to media right now, no one knows what the fuck the new owner of an NFL team is going to do with the front office) is just going to move onto another QB.Crimson streak;1239613 wrote:Or weedon has an ok to good year and we draft a qb and he's another McCoy/ Quinn. He is going to be 30 years old after this season, so if he's just "okay" I would have no problem with going after a top QB next year.

I understand what your saying but if weedon is ok/ good this year we won't be in a position to be drafting a franchise qb. I mean if he is showing promise this year to where he could be a top 10 qb, I don't want them cleaning house and bring in there own qb.

They took a "franchise QB" this year with the 22nd overall pick. If he has an okay year, they'd probably be around ~15 overall. Send a couple 1st round picks to move into the top 3, and get your franchise QB.Crimson streak;1239624 wrote:I understand what your saying but if weedon is ok/ good this year we won't be in a position to be drafting a franchise qb. The article I read said they were both on a 1 year trial. Haslam is a "Volunteer" and is Hardesty has a bounce back year, anything's possible.Crimson streak;1239625 wrote:Ehh I don't really see that happening or I dont think we will have to worry about Richardson performing well

Easier said than done. I mean look what the redskins gave up going from 7 to 2.i can't imagine what 15 to 1-3 would be.
