I get what youre saying BR, Lavuao is at least starting and decent Oline IMO. Hughes who knows, and McCoy started but was terrible. But saying that since Hecket hasn't drafted a pro bowler yet in the 3rd round isnt a reason to start throwing them away IMO. We could have used that same logic in the 1st for a long time, Couch, Courtney Brown, Warren, Leon, K2, Wimpy as example. Thus I guess we shouldn't draft Joe Thomas and just trade the pick for a decent player since we never hit on 1st rounders.

And technically we would still be picking him with our next yrs 3rd thus when he busts it would just be another feather in heckert's 3rd rd picks. Regardless I dont see Gordon worth a 3rd, I would consider a 6th and be more comfortable with a 7th round supp pick. Remember Gaither (Ravens) was had with a 5th round supp pick and he was a MUCH better football player/prospect at a premium position (LT). Spending a 3rd on an unproductive WR who hasn't played in a year seems crazy to me.

More on the "overhyped"...

Per RotoWorld-

CBS Sports' Rob Rang reports that "most" NFL scouts believe Baylor WR Josh Gordon will be drafted in the fourth or fifth round of today's supplemental draft.

Per Rang, the "consensus" is that Gordon has been "overhyped a bit." Scouts acknowledge "upside," but "don't trust" Gordon after one solid year of tape as a 19-year-old true sophomore. League sources told Rang that Gordon could go as early as the Dolphins in the third round to the Redskins in the fifth

The thing behind the stats for Gordon at Baylor is this..

They were only a 50/50 run/pass team, they were not a pass happy team. They also spread the ball around a ton, they had 5 receivers with 40+ catches.

Gordon averaged 17+ ypc and from what I saw in his highlights he gets a LOT of YAC yards (not a statistic in NCAA that is widely covered like the NFL).

I'd be willing to throw a 3rd rounder at this "flyer", but not a 2nd.

SMFH. Horrible. Heckert and Holmgren have allowed the fans and media get to their heads, and they have now become desperate. First trading up for T-Rich, then selecting Weeden, now wasting a 2nd on this fucker.

The only thing the fans/media didn't pressure them into was signing a FA that was worth a shit. Not happy with this off season at all.

Tony Grossi ‏@TonyGrossi Source said #Browns had Josh Gordon in for a visit last week. Gave him physical and thorough interview. It was love at first sight.

WAAAAAY off base on this one. Heckert has already built a strong network/pipeline to Baylor. They've drafted Taylor and wanted both RGIII & Kendall Wright. In these visits I'm sure they did their homework on Gordon.

Do I like the fact they used a 2nd? No, but saying the fans/media were behind this pick is laughable. People bitch about the shitty receiving corps and then they QQ when Heckert finally has the balls to DO something about it?

Heckertt and Holmgren are all in now. They better show improvement this year and come close to the playoffs in 2013-14... What milestones do you guys have for Holmgren and Heckertt the next 2-3 years to keep their jobs with the moves they have made?

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter Josh Gordon visited Cleveland last Thursday and Friday. Cleveland liked what it saw. Looks like Browns only team to put in 2nd-round claim.

Believed that Buffalo would have used the first pick in the 3rd round on him.

Very surprising that they used a 2nd on him. I honestly didn't think we had the balls to do it, but hey it is done. We are moving on with another weapon for Weeden and hopefully he pans out.

I want to see how healthy they come out of training camp/preseason but I'm sticking to 7-9 this year, playoffs in 2013.

I'm kinda getting some football "wood" over this young offensive core (Weeden<not so young>, T-Rich, Gordon, Little & perhaps Benjamin) they are assembling. These guys will all grow together.

I was just about to post this some sediment... except I was going to use excited instead of "wood". 4 new guys with high ceilings and Little. I like it more everyday.

That's the same thing people said about a QB, and they reached with Weeden imo (hopefully im wrong). A lot of these moves just come off desperate. It's as if Holmgren and Heckert know they have to throw in the kitchen sink or they are gone. I hope I am wrong, but I think it was quite a reach to give up a 2nd. Just like Weeden though, if I am wrong, I will happily eat my crow.

They wanted their receiver (Wright) at 22. They missed out on him so now they want to correct that mistake by taking a guy that may be MORE talented. I just don't see where it's desparation.

Think of it this way, if Heckert gave up a draft pick THAT high for him he must REALLY like him. Heckert is pretty stingy with his draft picks. His lack of action in free agency proves it.

I'm for this move. Good on the h's for making something happen. Raw and hugely skilled. No different than had we gone after hill in the draft imo.

Also read where Tony Grossi was told that between A.J. Green and Julio Jones, Gordon was closer to Green. Doesn't mean a whole lot right now and I don't think Gordon will be that big of an impact until next year

So what are the odds that this may have just made Carlton Mitchell a professional tweeter?

Wonder if Gordon wears his old college number, #12? ;)

Glad they took a risk....this is no worse than the defensive lineman they took in the other draft.
