Why not 2012?! All I hear from you is win now, so you're conceding the 2012 season?BR1986FB;1166679 wrote:They aren't making the playoffs in 2012 but I think they will in Weeden's second year if he is what I think he can be.

Yeah I am talking about the 2013 season when I say next year. Still don't buy into this "free pass" bs if he plays like shit this year.BR1986FB;1166679 wrote:They aren't making the playoffs in 2012 but I think they will in Weeden's second year if he is what I think he can be.

They should go 0-16 in 2012, then have a great draft, then make the playoffs in 2013.

Never did I say they would make the playoffs in '13. But at least they'd have an elite potential QB on the team. You need one of those to win anything of importance in the NFL. We don't have that currently, most likely.

And didn't the dolphins go 1-15 then make the playoffs the next year or am I wrong?

Oh, they'll win now but I don't expect them to make a quantum leap to being a playoff contender until NEXT year.SportsAndLady;1167007 wrote:Why not 2012?! All I hear from you is win now, so you're conceding the 2012 season?
Now, if some would have it THEIR way, they'd prefer we tank this year, go through the growing pains of ANOTHER losing (lost) season with a ROOKIE QB NEXT year and then potentially be a playoff contender in 2014. I think it happens a year sooner.

You say this as if it is almost set in stone that the Browns will make the playoffs in 2013 lol. Who is to say a better QB coming out of the next draft class won't lead them to the playoffs? Over the past 5 years we have seen a few rookie QBs play in the playoffs.BR1986FB;1167039 wrote:Oh, they'll win now but I don't expect them to make a quantum leap to being a playoff contender until NEXT year.

No, that's a very narrow interpretation of what we are talking about. Thanks.Commander of Awesome;1167062 wrote:Christ are we really debating 2013 playoffs?

1979...the 49ers under Bill Walsh and rookie quarterback, Joe Montana go 2-14. The following year the Niners show modest improvement at 6-10. In 1981, San Fran runs out at 13-3, beats Dallas on Dwight Clark's catch, and overwhelms the Bengals in the Super Bowl.
There are plenty of other turn around success stories in the NFL. Pittspuke from 1969 (1-13) to the playoffs in 72...and titles in 74/75. It can be done quickly in Cleveland too.

Lol what?! They're not "winning now" if they're not in the playoffs. Sweet were gonna go through another losing season in '12 with not much high hopes (playoffs at best..not SB contending) in '13.BR1986FB;1167039 wrote:Oh, they'll win now but I don't expect them to make a quantum leap to being a playoff contender until NEXT year.

Too bad we drafted two DT's since we were already "set" at the position.

Browns signed Hughes, Benjamin & Miller today.
No shocker thar Heckert values D-Line and corners so much. Need constant depth/rotation. Hopefully Winn & Hughes can step up if Taylor's done for the year.

Also good thing Taylor will be healthy for our playoff run in 2013.
