You must love you some defense. Browns need to address offense in the first. You can't count on upgrading a stagnant offense by focusing 2-4 round picks on O, there isn't enough elite talent out there to do that.Commander of Awesome;1142360 wrote:My dream scenario is Claiborne, LaVvonte David, then either Wright, Randle, Hill in the second (one will fall), trade back into the second (perhaps a trade back to #6) and get Massie, then pray and hope LeMichael James falls into the 3rd.

I just think the defensive talent is better. I'd rather take a stud at Corner, moving Browns to FS thus helping two positions with one pick then reach on a mediocre late first round talent (IMO) in Blackmon. I'm never high or in favor of drafting a RB that high, let alone in the first when I think you can get a stud like James in the late second. I just don't see the offensive talent at #4 other than Luck and RG3. Obviously neither is an option for the browns.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1142380 wrote:You must love you some defense. At #22 I think Lavonte David will be the best player available. Again even if Floyd is there, I think the same level of talent can be had at our second round pick. I like Randle, Hill, Wright as much as Floyd. I honestly think the three mentioned will help open up the offense and stretch the field better than Floyd can do. I see Floyd more in the mold of what we already have with Little. I'd rather get a burner to stretch the field and take pressure off of him, McCoy, running game, and the TEs than take Blackmon which doesn't require the secondary the put a safety over top of him and thus scrunching the field.

Its BPA thought process not defense first. It was well explained in my post, not surprised it went over your head. So basically even though they could get a better player later and also help their defense at the same time, you'd be pissed because they didn't waste a pick on your boyfriend Blackmon? Makes sense.SportsAndLady;1142393 wrote:^^^ literally disagreed with everything in that post lol

Who would trade their 2013 first rounder for pick #22. I havent even seen reports about the Browns possibly getting a 2013 first rounder for their #4 pick, let alone the #22 pick.jpake1;1142303 wrote:I'd trade 22 for a 1st next year then bundle to move up so I have another pick close to 37 and get a nice rt, cb, or wr with those two. It'd be nice to have another 1st next year for Barkley if you need to move up a couple spots.

To be fair, when the Browns traded up to get Brady Quinn the one year I believe that pick was right around there and it cost them their 1st round pick the next year.like_that;1142409 wrote:Who would trade their 2013 first rounder for pick #22. True, but I just don't see it happening if the Browns can't even get a first for the #4 pick overall.Y-Town Steelhound;1142428 wrote:To be fair, when the Browns traded up to get Brady Quinn the one year I believe that pick was right around there and it cost them their 1st round pick the next year.

We can upgrade the D all we want..but the team is going nowhere if we keep avoiding the playmakers positions.

I would have no problem with Claiborne at 4. I really don't want Blackman. Don't think he will be that elite receiver we need. Either way we need a receiver with our first 3 picks

Floyd there at #22 and you're taking lavonte david? That's avoiding the offense.Commander of Awesome;1142475 wrote:But I wasn't avoiding upgrading the offense. Not one bit. Calm down there chubbs.

This was also a time when rookies didn't have a pay scale like they do now, so the higher draft picks costed you a lot more money than they do now.Y-Town Steelhound;1142428 wrote:To be fair, when the Browns traded up to get Brady Quinn the one year I believe that pick was right around there and it cost them their 1st round pick the next year.

I'd be fine with richardson at #4, Wright/Hill at #22 and Massie with our second round pick as well. More I think about the more I think the #4 pick needs to be Claiborne or Richardson. I dont view Kalil as a viable option, Tannehill and Blackmon are reaches.

Teams like the Browns can't use the BPA thought process because there are GLARING needs, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. Each pick needs to be intentional, targeted specifically to fill a hole. You state James as being a viable RB option, but not in our division. He won't be able to consistently carry an NFL load in our division like Richardson will. Additionally, while I really like Hill, his route tree was incredibly limited in college, so while he will be able to spread the field with his speed, it's unlikely that he will be able to run anything but deep balls with regularity, and we all know McCoy doesn't have the arm strength to go deep very often. Thus, that eliminates the notion of spreading the field. Many are now regarding Floyd as being the best WR in the draft above Blackmon because of his versatility and skill set. I would hate to see the Browns pass on him if he is available at 22...Commander of Awesome;1142396 wrote:Its BPA thought process not defense first. Floyd wont be there at #22, you can forget that fantasy.
I disagree with you on James. Many said Ray Rice/MJD were too small as well. Also even richardson has shown some injury concerns. There isn't a RB in this league I would hand the ball to 300 times. LeMichael James is a game changing RB. Handing the ball to him 15 times is definitely an option and he has the ability to gain over 100 yds with those carries. That where you draft well, and plan for a secondary back. We have Brandon Jackson coming back who's a good 3rd down back and Chris Obgyanananananana as the #2. Hardest can go fuck himself, he sucks.
Hill is a developing player and a project. I understand that but so fucking what? The browns aren't winning the SB this year and he has huge Calvin Johnson like potential. He's there you pick him and let him develop. In 3 years he'll be a top 10 WR in this league.
FS and OLBer are GLARING needs IMO. Fujitia is injury prone and probably suspended for part of this season. You want to march Maivia out there? I certainty don't. If you expect DQ to hold up again for every snap on the defense than you're kidding yourself. Same could be said for Ward. We need playmakers on defense. Claiborne and David provide that.

Agreed! Don't like that draft at all. Our biggest needs are receiver, rb, and rt in whatever order. Those should be our first three picks. We can grab a olb and cb in the later rounds or move up with all the draft picks we have to grab one in the second or third.SportsAndLady;1142470 wrote:You can spin it any way you want to ginger...but that draft would suck ass.

Well David is a second round prospect so like I said you could trade back up if you think he is a must get or there is the guy from Utah St (Wagner I believe?) Bruce Irvin (WVU), Ronnell Lewis (OKLA), Sean Spence (Miami)Commander of Awesome;1142604 wrote:Who do you think is a good OLB prospect in the later rounds?

I personally dont think David falls into the 2nd, if he does its EARLY 2nd. Wagner and Irvin are also top half of the 2nd round.SMITTEMS;1142613 wrote:Well David is a second round prospect so like I said you could trade back up if you think he is a must get or there is the guy from Utah St (Wagner I believe?) Lewis is ok, not near the prospect that David is. This season he only had 5.5 sacks, whcih IMO showcases lack of pass rush moves. Given our lack of Pass Rush already, I would prefer someone with more pass rush skills. He has some upside though, but again he'll be a top 50 pick IMO. Still not a later round guy.
Sean Spence plays well in space, but I don't see a pass rush from him either. He'd be a decent weak side lber, but we already have that covered (Gocong). We need someone to take over the strong side and stop pretending like Fujita is going to stay healthy and is a good player, see Tenn game for proof of that.
Out of the guys you listed only one is projected to go after the 2nd round and isn't a good fit for us.

Granite yeah I would rather have David after watching what he did to the buckeyes this past season, but the only way I see that happening is if we trade out of #4 to pick up another second which means we more than likely miss out on Richardson, Claiborne, and Blackmon. If we can grab Floyd though I would be all for itCommander of Awesome;1142625 wrote:I personally dont think David falls into the 2nd, if he does its EARLY 2nd.
