Honestly didn't expect a bowl ban considering the self serving decisions made by the NCAA following last years revelations of the Tat5 and allowing them to play in the Sugar Bowl. So, now if true, what are the ramifications of the Bowl ban for next season?

I honestly think, that if recruiting hits a solid mark this off season, then there will be no long term implications.

Thoughts.

And no Web, I still don't really care. Sucks but not dampening anything.

Only this years class could be hurt recruiting wise. The following class will be bowl eligible. But it'll be interesting to hear what recruits say or more importantly what coaches say to those recruits.

At the end of the day, Ohio State is first and foremost an academic institution. They will survive, the football program will survive and we will continue to win, both on and off the field.

I don't think a 1 year ban hurts all that bad. It may give a chance for younger guys to play earlier, making the team stronger in 2013

That's all well and good, but it still doesn't minimize the assfucking the NCAA just put on us

Who cares about the NCAA? It's one game. Ohio State will continue to be a champion through adversity. To me, that is the most important thing for the university.

I know this, we will see OSU lay some beat downs on teams, like we have never seen before at OSU. Meyer should set out to thoroughly embarass all teams and the NCAA.

I agree. I don't really think it hurts too bad. Maybe if a guy was on the fence between OSU and somewhere else, but I think all the commits are safe. Even Dunn. ;)

Is there any chance Meyer walks because of this? I doubt it, but I am betting Smith assured him there would be no bowl ban. Again, I doubt this, just hope there is not more to worry about here.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State decides to go undefeated and then we can have another 2-3 loss SEC win the NCG and it would be fraudulent.

IMO, the biggest implication is that we won't have the opportunity to kick tsun's ass twice next year (providing they even make it to the B1G championship game)

I believe Meyer spoke directly to the NCAA.

No. Regardless of what Gene might have told him, he is a smart man. He had to know this was a possibility.

Why would he walk? A couple extra schollies gone and a 1 year bowl ban? It's not like this is the end of teh world. Ya, it sucks. But it'll be a forgotten memory in a few years.

I am beginning to think that this NCAA decision will backfire on them profoundly and Ohio State takes no prisoners...for a loooong time.

Probably that after they were caught, they broke MORE rules.

I think this gives Meyer the chance to surround the wagons next season and incorporate the "us against the world" theme. That said, I look for some embarrassing beatdowns on many opponents, letting the football world know what will be coming in 2013.
