Kelvin Sampson is solely responsible for the success of the Xavier basketball program the last 5 years.Laley23;1012445 wrote:I side with X in the fact I dont think their players were as in the wrong as UC, but both were awful. But if we spread this to off-court issues, all I have to look at is that Terrell Holloway was recruited and committed to Kelvin Sampson, lol.

I agree. As well as Detroit this year and as long as McCallum is their PG. And Ohio when Bassett and CO. made that March run. FML.CinciX12;1014250 wrote:Kelvin Sampson is solely responsible for the success of the Xavier basketball program the last 5 years.
At least Crean has them on the right track again and next year should be amazing. But fuck it took a long time, and for that, I hate Kelvin. Im sure you love him though lol. Fucking Crawford and Holloway.
Also pointing our Ebanks was signed, then went to West Virginia and Kevin Jones of West Virginia hadnt signed, but was rumored to be a soft verbal. Sampson had it made, and had all the talent in the world coming through. Too bad (for his sake, Im glad now that the bad years are seemingly over) he couldnt stay off the phone lol

I couldn't beleive their coach/AD/university let them even get in front of a microphone after the game!! That in itself, was flat out STUPID!!M Plant;1012084 wrote:I don't think the X players could have come off any worse in their comments afterwards. Couldn't believe what I was hearing

Cincinnati coaching staff did not permit its players to attend the press conference following the game.

I think what may have happened was that Mack was out doing his usual radio interview with the guys and during that time Mark and Tu snuck off and did a press conference, so maybe he was just unaware? Who knows though, that is just what I am thinking since they did the press conference without him present. He shouldn't have done the radio interview even in my opinion. Everyone gets their asses back in the locker room and that includes the head coach. Make sure no one is out there doing anything stupid. But that being said, who in their right mind from a Xavier athletics standpoint watches those guys walk in that room and not stop them. All you have to say is "no players will be available for comment, Coach Mack will be out to speak with you shortly". Hell that is probably what the media was even expecting. I bet they were shocked when the 2 of them showed up.
Cincinnati absolutely did better in the PR standpoint category after the game, but then were spineless when it came to the penalties that they enforced.

In all honesty, Gates needs to be done for the year, but 1 game for Holloway is a joke.

See I don't understand this. Holloway was talking the entire game just like every single person on the court was. He walks over, and I guess what the Cincinnati media morons have decided is he said something along the lines of "this is my city" probably with 15 expletives thrown in. But I really don't think that is what started that fight. Dez Wells was the one who escalated the thing above and beyond where it needed to go. Holloway can be called an idiot for what he said in the press conference, but he doesn't need to be suspended for a game because of it, IMO at least. He didn't throw any punches during the fight either. Being an idiot isn't a punishable offense. Mark Lyons suspension is based off of him throwing punches.sleeper;1014596 wrote:Xavier was spineless too.

No one knows "elitist" like fans of THE Ohio State University who look down their noses on anyone within the state borders who doesn't cheer for the scarlet and grey.

Totally untrue. I don't really care how many fans are Ohio State fans. I'm more concerned about the Ohio State "fans" who root for Ohio State in football and Duke for basketball. They are fake fans, and I will put my elitist snob nosed shoes if necessary to rid them of the universe with logic and reason.Mooney44Cards;1014755 wrote:No one knows "elitist" like fans of THE Ohio State University who look down their noses on anyone within the state borders who doesn't cheer for the scarlet and grey.

Are you generalizing, or are you talking about specific fans?Mooney44Cards;1014755 wrote:No one knows "elitist" like fans of THE Ohio State University who look down their noses on anyone within the state borders who doesn't cheer for the scarlet and grey.

I don't actually believe that. But I was doing what sleeper did, make a broad generalization.vball10set;1014778 wrote:Are you generalizing, or are you talking about specific fans?

Agreed, and the Steelers in the NFL, and the Lakers fans who used to be Bulls fans in the '90s, Yankee fans.

^^^ Back in the mid 90s, my roommate was the ultimate bandwagon fan. He was a Cleveland Indian Baseball Fan, Chicago Bulls basketball fan and a Dallas Cowboy NFL fan.
He would deny being a bandwagon jumper. The baseball part I could agree with since he was from Twinsburg, but the basketball and football part I wasn't buying.
