Maybe the AD and School President had the final say on discipline not Cronin.september63;1011359 wrote:I just cant believe this 6 games after watching his presser. I dont trust that dude from this point forward.

6 games for Yancy is an absolute joke. UC should get lambasted by the media for that.

Especially with his laundry list of suspensions, violations and off-court incidents he had already accumulated prior to this.Terry_Tate;1011367 wrote:6 games for Yancy is an absolute joke. UC should get lambasted by the media for that.

If you're not gonna have any say in the decision then don't come out and say everything he said in that presser

While you are at it, please list Holloway and Frease's as well, just so we are being fair.

I love this gem from the Cincinnati AD:
"We hold our student-athletes to a very high standard and take very seriously the role that our entire department plays in reflecting the overall image of this great university"
Yeah, man we all know that long history of morally upstanding young men that come out of the UC program. High standard indeed.

Yancy almost got kicked off the team last year for being an idiot. He was only suspended for one game though and did finish the season fairly well. Cronin, in his own words, said last year. "Yancy needs to grow up and show some maturity." LOL How's that going?Little Danny;1011495 wrote:Please list them for me.

I never thought he would get kicked off the team, but I think it is unfair to be able to come back and not miss a single big east game.

That's all you got? The fact is, Gates was sat last year due to work ethic issues. He has not been involved in a laundry list of off-court incidents, violations and suspensions.
Meanwhile, I'll do the second half of my query to you since you ignored it. Did you know that last year Holloway was the guy who threw punches at UC? Do you know that two years ago Frease intentionally headbutted Gates? Did you know that Frease and Holloway have had legal issues off the court? Did you know Frease was "indefiniately" kicked off the team prior to the season for his off the court behavior?
As far as the overall program, I can't run from some of the derelicts UC had in the early to mid 1990s. They university has tried to clean that up and actually in the past 7-8 years UC has had some pretty good kids who have for the most part who have stayed out of trouble and graduated. However, as an aside, do you know that XU has had three former players convicted of murder? UC, has had zero.

What will be remembered is the ending. The players of both teams and their coaches are no better than ghetto thugs...by their own admission.
UC and Xavier should not play again for a minimum of 10 years.

Early to mid 90's?! Lets not pretend that's true. The Donald Little "incident" was in 2002, and hell....after Huggins was fired, one of his incoming players was charged with statutory rape, and another charged with bringing a concealed weapon onto campus. This is all in the last calendar year of Huggins' tenure.Little Danny;1011998 wrote:You said, "Especially with his laundry list of suspensions, violations and off-court incidents he had already accumulated prior to this."

Huggins was fired in 2005. That was nearly 7 years ago. The Donald Little incident took place in 2002. That is all ancient history. UC gave itself a self-imposed death penalty by firing Huggs and cleaning house. They played with one returning scholarship playing in 2005 and have built things back up from the ground. The kids are graduating from school and for the most part kept their nose clean.Mooney44Cards;1012332 wrote:Early to mid 90's?! Lets not pretend that's true. Again if you want to throw stones, all you have to do is look at the three former XU basketball players sitting in prision right now with murder convictions. Frease and Holloway have had their run ins with the law as well. I can name numerous other issues as well but I will save the band-width. Fine examples of youg men from a jesuit university.

A simple "I was wrong, I totally made up the early to mid 90's thing to make UC look better" would have sufficed. Xavier is not the issue here. I never said all of their players were saints, I was merely calling you out for your blatant lie. But if you want to spin it into whatever "ya but that was 7 years ago, they're ok now, Xavier's worse" feel free.Little Danny;1012378 wrote:Huggins was fired in 2005. That was nearly 7 years ago. Did anyone watch this video?Little Danny;1010952 wrote:The Frease incident allegedly was caught on camera. It has been posted to youtube. Watch the 3:20 mark of this video. Frease goes over towards the UC fanbase, jumps into the stands and is either throwing a punch or swining his arms. He is pulled away by an XU player wearing his warmups.
Not sure if this factual or not, just pointing it out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF6fL2urgYQ
It has since been taken down by the original person who posted the video, I'm assuming that's the person who recorded it as well. I watched it on my friends ipad and didn't get a chance to show anyone else before it was taken down.
If you watched it on your PC it's possible to still watch the video from your internet history even thought it's been removed from youtube.
I would like to show this video to a friend of mine, so if you can help me by retrieving the video and sharing it with me I would much appreciate it. Please PM if you can help.
Thanks!

I side with X in the fact I dont think their players were as in the wrong as UC, but both were awful. But if we spread this to off-court issues, all I have to look at is that Terrell Holloway was recruited and committed to Kelvin Sampson, lol.
