Hope this helps.

Some kids are just intellectually advanced;)
BRF;1014094 wrote:Take the case of the father of our current center on the basketball team. Same situation. Some ''einstein'' felt that holding a kid back until they ''got it right'' would be the best thing. By Junior High, it was realized what great potential this young fellow had on the basketball court. He went from 7th grade out to the high school and made an immediate impact. He went on to star at Indiana St. He did not graduate from college, BUT will tell you that the experiences he had along the way were invaluable to his life and he DID NOT feel then, nor does he feel now, used by the system. However, there are people who like to put words in his mouth and infer that he was used for wins and nobody cared about what happened to him later. I wish those people could tell that to Smitty's face.
Series62;1014097 wrote:From what I'm told by students, your class and "teaching", if that's what you call it, is a joke and a dis-service to the students also!

And your opinion matters little!
the students you speak of carry your bias, obviously his teaching has merit or he wouldnt have the tenure he does!
BRF;1014098 wrote:Are you serious?
I Am
RedRider1;1014122 wrote:Yet, amazingly, he's entitled to it...much the same as you are.
Are you saying its just "entitlement?" Not earned?

Series62;1014129 wrote:So, what you're saying is that, since he was able to go from 7th grade directly to the high school to play basketball, it's concievable that his academics wasn't important because they could "make him eligible" as long as he could play basketball.

And so, if he was 5'-8" and his basketball skills were average, the school and Smitty would have left him there until he "got it right" or flunked out!

Perhaps someone should have told him, and you too, "teacher"!
Many "children" have graduated college at 14 years old...are you insinuating this young man was academically challenged? I understand he was an astute student!
Series62;1014134 wrote:Yes, he's entitled to his opinion, yet his is an opinion of little value.
and you opinion carries WHAT value??????????????????????????????????????????????? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Whatta joke!
Series62;1014147 wrote:NO, you don't get it!

Whether I like you or not has no bearing on the fact that as a teacher, you would suggest that it is the right thing to do to pass a student so that he/she can participate in sports! What you're saying is being picked apart because it is wrong and flies in the face of the ethics of a teacher.

And my "jabs" at your job performance is a result from someone that should know, that being former students of yours, and not just my sons!

Perhaps you should consider the "new low", allowing students to pass and skip grades to play sports without real regard to their academic abilities.

perhaps those who evaluate the teachers at Orrville should be under scrutiny.....it starts at the top...and has went on forEVER!!!!!!!! YOU Just have a dull axe to grind with BRF....anything you say carries no merit due to your usual gibberish.

Talked to coach Davault the other day, he said they are going to split time with Lichti and Short at QB. Probably similar to what we did my senior year with myself and Bescanson.

The students I'm speaking of know that his teaching is designed to simply pass everyone without actually teaching them anything. This in turn makes him "appear" to be a successful teacher which would help him have "merit" and thus tenure. He's obviously one of the teachers giving out passing grades to help athletes remain eligible also.
1_beast;1014299 wrote:...Are you saying its just "entitlement?" Not earned?...
No, it's not entitlement, nor is it earned. And any coach, player or parent that participates in it is simply cheating the student.
I'm saying that teachers who agree so whole-heartedly to the aforementioned policy care too much about wins-losses too little about the student!
1_beast;1014299 wrote:...Many "children" have graduated college at 14 years old...are you insinuating this young man was academically challenged? I understand he was an astute student!...
What an idiotic statement! How many of those 14 year old "children" graduateded college and went back to play high school sports?

Here is an excellent example of a term from Government class: libel.

I passed his class with hard work and studying every Thursday night for our weekly tests....as did everyone else. I enjoyed his class because he integrated different teaching styles to get the course topic "Government" across to his students, which kept them engaged in the class discussions and participating.

Never mind you personal experiences OQB...the lot has been cast. Grades are handed out based on athletic ability.

So it is written...

Nope. Never libeled anyone. But you seem to have a pretty good grip on how to do it.

What I am saying is that since brf admitted to and agreed to it happening and is in full support of it, then I find it likely that he had a part in it.

It was WRONG, but for all that is good and right in Orville, you won't admit that!

You find it likely = it's fact? Whatever you say.

BRF knowing it went on doesn't mean he endorsed or supported it....but don't let facts get in the way...you never do.

That victim card (among other cards) that you play has to be pretty dog-eared by now.

The whole town knew about it. It's hard to keep something like that a covert operation, and it wasn't intended to be secret. Why is it so hard to believe that the kids benefited from the moves? BTW, I had nothing to do with the decision.

"Facts get in the way", Per his comments he endorsed it. However, he or you didn't seem to argue too much with Old Rider's view that it was wrong!
