Mo was bad at helping his athletes go further too. RIP... It was a different time and I still say that all of the past greats helped to pave the future for these guys today. We have been blessed in Orrville with talent for a long time.

Just got some first-hand info that says Northwest will move to week 3 starting in 2013...and we're looking to bring in a Cleveland or Akron City team as a week 1 home game. Likely a Cleveland team (not Glenville, obviously).Lockup Screen;1146210 wrote:Rider, from my understanding, NW will play Niles Mckinley week 3 in 2013. Canton South dropped us. So it looks like the NW Orrville will be week one for a while
Triway will remain in the week 2 slot.
If this happens, we'll have 6 home games a year.
Sure hope our grass field can hold up.

That's good news. Last I heard the plan is to do the turf and track at the same time and have everything ready for 2013 when new school opens as well. It will be quite a campus. something the community can certainly take pride in. last figure I heard was all track money ready to go and they are 280 toward the 750 needed for field. Our field price is higher than most due to all the drainage and prep that needs done.....which needs done anyway.

I think it could be done this year, but admin wants to do track & turf at same time ($10-15k cost savings to do both at once) and given the tight time frame, summer of 2013 sounds much more realistic.
Still in a period of trying to secure some commitments of key businesses/individuals in Orrville and then we'll roll it out & get some publicity behind it.
Two companies already spoken to about doing the work..I think a third next week..I believe it's the same company that did Senior's field.

I think you should roll with Black End Zone, and Red lettering outlined in White. Just a personal preference.

Ehhh..we're the RED Riders. I think he goal is to keep it simple. Black, white & red would be costlier than just red & white.
Would look too Steubenville-ish or Manchester-ish, IMO.

You really thought a Wooster guy would give you solid advice regarding the Orrville turf? SMH

When Wooster gets their turf....we're rolling with Blue end zones, and Gold Lettering outlined in White. Just saying.

Yes. Soccer parents are a little frustrated with their present field. No lights and as the season goes on its hard to get a reserve game in before its dark. Band has trouble practicing, etc, etc. If this is successful we'll wonder how we ever did it without. Just like the multipurpose facility. That being said, I hope that all the parents of soccer, band, peewee football , and everyone that is going to use this sees a way to help out financially to make this a reality.

There is an interesting story in Orrviews about the Barnett fellow who donated $10,000 to start the turf project.

If we do indeed get turf, I hope it looks like the field RR1 posted way back in April of 2010.....

Yes...the Red ''O" at mid-field looks much better than the white one that has been proposed.

End zones would be red with white lettering, but I think the midfield O would be white.
Should be announcing this to the public very soon...lots of behind the scenes stuff happening right now.

In related news, the Orrville Athletic Department announced this afternoon plans to erect a statue of Mike McCreary inside the stadium.
