I'm a half mile out and I hear the crowd screaming 'F--- Sandusky!'
Were they chanting both of those? Because they sound pretty similar. And there's a pretty big difference.KR1245;965763 wrote:CNN showing some video, large crowd of students gathering " FUCK THE TRUSTEES"
Not to mention the janitor who allegedly saw a crime firsthand in 2000, the grad assistant who saw a crime firsthand in 2002 (and still has a job??? That's the most confusing part to me), and the people who met with the grad assistant (Curley and Schultz) AFTER Paterno passed the information along. Even if you want to make the argument that Paterno was vague about what he passed on, the GA still met with and had the opportunity to tell the AD and man in charge of university police exactly what he saw. Either he didn't, or they dropped the ball.pmoney25;965868 wrote:Look, Paterno should have followed up to see why nothing had happened. But you guys are going crazy acting like Paterno is one that committed the worst crime here. In my opinion the AG, Police Dept and whoever else was investigating this in 98 are higher up on the accountability list than JoePa.
I don't think firing him was overboard. I think doing it over the phone is weak sauce. Tarnished reputation or not the guy did a ton of good for Penn State. But comments like
Are just complete idiocy.stlouiedipalma;965857 wrote:All of you who are defending Paterno would want 10 minutes alone with him if it had happened to one of your sons.

Mulva,
Boys were RAPED. It isn't about football anymore, or what JoePa did in the past. I don't care how many games he won or how much money he gave to the school or how much "good" he did. Boys were RAPED. What part of that don't you get?

I still can't believe this all happened. Not just that it happened, but that anyone could let it happen. We can argue all day about JoePa, but I can't believe that someone (Sandusky) within a football program could be responsible for the destruction of so many kid's lives.
Probably the craziest and saddest sports story I could ever imagine.

I don't get, specifically, the proof we have that Joe Paterno knew what was going on. If he knew, fuck him. But until I see someone from Penn State say "yeah, they knew it and covered it up," I will wonder.stlouiedipalma;965902 wrote:Mulva,

guilty or not . the trustees at the very most should have suspended Joepa. because during the q and a of the press conferance the same trustee said repeatedly he cannot answer questions because they havent recieved all of the facts just yet. so if you dont have all the facts yet ,how can you fire your coach? sorry about puncutation and spelling. just my opinion does not mean im right.

Well, they fired him.
What we know or don't know about the '98 charges and Sandusky's "retirement" aren't currently available, but if JoePa didn't know about it he should be fired for incompetence.

They were raped by Jerry Sandusky. A grad assistant eye witnessed 1 act and a janitor eye witnessed another one and neither of them contacted the police. What part of that don't you get?stlouiedipalma;965902 wrote:Mulva,

Which has what to do with Paterno? How many times do I need to ask this question?Skyhook79;965915 wrote:They were raped by Jerry Sandusky. A grad assistant eye witnessed 1 act and a janitor eye witnessed another one and neither of them contacted the police. What part of that don't you get?

The way it sounds on here is that JoePa was setting up a video recorder in the showers and setting up appointments with Sandusky.
JoePa could and should have done more, but its not like he just ignored it and didn't do anything. He DID report it. I agree he should have been fired/resigned and I do not let him off the hook but until I hear or see evidence that he knew a lot more than he is letting on to, I am not going to reserve him a place in hell like some of you are.

I hope these college kids are proud of themselves. Someday they'll be able to brag to their 10yr old children... What a sad fucking place right now. I'd be embarrassed to be a PSU alum right now.

It is undisputed that Joe, at the very minimum, heard about a 60 year old man in the showers - naked - with a 10 year old boy in 2002.
60 year old man, naked, 10 year old boy, showers. There is no need for further detail. None.
What more do you need? Seriously, wtf can you supporters not understand?
And to make matters worse, he allowed this 60 year old man, who was positively identified, to bring other young boys to the facility and on bowl trips since 2002. WTF?
AND the individual who witnessed the act REMAINED on his staff since the incident.

Need? Well, I want to know what the AD said to Paterno a week or so later. If it's that the AD lied to him and said the investigation was big and huge and nothing was found just like in '98...then what do you do if you're Paterno? I mean Sandusky had worked with 100,000's of kids, and adopted six personally, could he really be a monster? That'd be a tough thought to process if I'm Paterno.dat dude;965936 wrote:It is undisputed that Joe, at the very minimum, heard about a 60 year old man in the showers - naked - with a 10 year old boy in 2002.

I simply want to know what Paterno knew and what the AD told him. We will find out in time.
