THERE IS NO "innocent until proven guilty" for Paterno, he broke no law. He doesn't have to face a jury. He doesn't have to put his hand on a bible and swear to God he's telling the truth when he gives his side of the story, if he ever does. Unless he's called as a witness. What we know.
WE KNOW McQueary saw Sandusky in the shower with a young boy doing something of a "sexual nature". WE KNOW McQueary saw Sandusky doing something troubling in the shower because he reported what he saw to Paterno. WE KNOW McQueary told the Grand Jury that he saw Sandusky sodomozing a 10 year old boy in the shower. WE KNOW Paterno was concerned about what McQueary saw happen in the shower, because Paterno told the Grand Jury that McQuery was obviously upset.
Now comes the $64 thousand question. Did McQuery tell Paterno something less damning than what he told the Grand Jury? If so, how much less and why....remember Paterno said he could tell McQuery was shaken when he recounted the incident.
You tell us, why would McQueary tell Paterno something less than what he told the Grand Jury? What could McQueary have told Paterno that seemed so insignificant that all Paterno did was tell the AD what McQueary told him? Be honest with yourself, remember McQueary was obviously shaken. If all McQuery told Paterno was something like, "I saw Sandusky in a shower with a young boy". Wouldn't that minimal report be enough of a disturbing picture that, say six months later and nothing has happened to Sandusky, that Paterno should have at least inquired of someone in the organization....WHY?....WHAT?.... WHY NOT?
Why doesn't someone do something about Sandusky? Why isn't someone at least a little concerned about the young boy who was in the shower with Sandusky? Paterno IS Happy Valley. Paterno IS Penn State. Paterno IS Penn State Football. Paterno IS god at Penn State. Paterno ABSOLUTELY has the POWER to go above and beyond his MINIMUM responsibility of using the chain of command. WHY DID HE NEVER DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN TELL THE AD?????
