He doesn't coach them now. He stands around and drools at practice and sits in the press box without a headset at games.

Yeah I read it. Maybe I missed it but point out where Joe Pa tried to cover up anything and was the one who allowed Sandusky access to the facilities and gave him an office and run of the place after Sandusky retired?

And this is why he should resign.

But unless he is guilty of something more than "not doing enough", that is all that should happen. And until facts come out that he didn't report the incident or intentionally lessened the severity of charges when he reported to his boss, I'm not labeling him guilty of more.

I'm not saying to build another statue for the guy and give him a raise. I'm saying he isn't the devil and, while he doesn't deserve to retain his post, he isn't the evil one in all of this.

Joe Parterno runs the football program. Do you really believe Sandusky could have all these things given to him -- despite being forced to retire -- WITHOUT Paterno's approval?

What you and lep keep ignoring in all this: there were two incidents that happened and were reported by different witnesses (1998 and 2002). In both cases, the reports went to campus police, Paterno, the AD and the president, and then nothing happened.

Do you really believe Paterno is so stupid or incompetent that he wouldn't realize Sandusky is doing something wrong with children when he's had two separate reports of this in four years?

It's weird how not jumping to conclusions or calling for a guy who the police and attorney general both admitted met his legal duties to be burned at the stake = apologist.

It won't happen and there's no way we'll ever know, but it would be nice if every victim came forward. One would think there's already plenty to convict, but when all you have are witness/victim statements the more you have the better. Also, unless SVU has been bullshitting me all these years testifying against one's abuser can bring a feeling of control back to a victim's life.

I see that you claim to have read it, but you don't seem to understand the contents of it. Whether this is because you didn't read it at all, didn't read it carefully, or are being willfully ignorant, I can't speculate.

IF and when Paterno eventually has a press conference will he answer every question from all reporters?
Will Paterno put his hand on a bible when he answers the questions?
Would Paterno take a lie detector test?

He doesn't have to do any of the above since he did not commit a crime. Shouldn't he feel a need to do all three since he considers himself to be morally innocent?

Again maybe I missed it please point out in the GJ testimony where Paterno was consulted or had to approve Sandusky being given run of the place and where it says Paterno forced him to retire.

SVU has been BS'ing you. Many boy victims will never come forward due to the stigma of being abused. How would you feel if you had to tell your wife, your in-laws, your friends that a man took it up your rear? You don't get over that.

At least with female rape victims, there is a support system for it, for males it is "why didn't you fight back" and "damaged goods", they lose their masculinity which is why the crime is so heinous.

I'm aware of the stigma and know that most male victims never come forward. My SVU comment was referring to the emotional release provided to those that do come forward, and whether or not that's actually a feeling many victims that face their abuser experience.

Maybe that is what you were addressing and I just misread it.

The majority feeling is that Paterno will be gone before Saturday, that doesn't seem like enough. Turns out Joe isn't the man most thought he was. Sad that something like that could go on so long right under PSU's nose and they didn't know. (I doubt it) Heard on ESPN that some of their recruits are wavering now and that Sandusky had a young boy just recently with him on campus. (Mike & MIke)

There are sins of commission ( something you do wrong yourself- rapping someone) and there are sins of omission ( not doing the right thing when it is in your power to do it- stopping a rapist friend from his heinous acts against little boys). JoPa did the second mentioned sin to save his own reputation and it will cost him 50 years of otherwise good acts.

For those of you saying wait to hear what Joe says? Do you realize he admitted that "something of a sexual nature" was going on with a minor in his locker room? He admits he was told that! That is all the statement I need to hear from him, why would I need to hear him rationalize why he did nothing about it to know he's a scumbag? I am also smart enough to realize he knew much more than even what he admits to, but even if he doesn't I don't need to hear another word. I am a manager at the place I work, but there is people above me, if someone comes to me and says there was a grown man doing something sexual with a minor in a shower, do you think my only call is to my supervisor? Hell no.
I'm also not stupid enough to believe that Joe didn't know everything that was going on in 1998.

As many others have already said...of course he knew everything in 1998...we now know that is clearly why Sandusky "retired". And we also now know another incident in 2002 was again swept under the rug without any law enforcement or child services contact made. JoePa is clearly culpable of allowing child molestation to continually occur in his community. He must go immediately and unfortunately his complete body of work is now forever stained by heinous incidents that he didn't personally commit, but could heve personally prevented and chose not to do so.
