DICE made the multiplayer for Medal of Honor which probably explains the familiarity. If you play this game with the same intentions as with a game like COD or Halo you will be disappointed. I never understood the rivalry between the two as the parallels stop at modern FPS. BF3 is essentially a big team battle game in which you get to use nearly every cool thing in existence to blow stuff up on massive maps where as the other two are arena shooters, fast paced and competitive. BF3 could be as competitive if you choose to play it that way but you'll find the multiplayer design lacking in most departments games like COD and Halo are at their best. If you're looking for a high stakes, quick, K/D ratio watching experience grab a COD or Halo, but if you are looking for a game where you can enjoy huge firefights involving loads of multiplayer vehicles and weapons on outrageously large maps, go with BF3.
