My dads construction company done jobs throughout Michigan, Ohio, Tennesse, and Kentucky. Our workers were paid to drive to the job site on Sunday evening, and they were paid to drive home after the work week on Friday evening or Saturday morning. It's very common practice, as proven time and time again. If the job was close enough, they were paid daily for the commute.

What about driving 2.5 hours each way to work at a car wash?

Key word, plumbers.

Maybe I'm naive, but I find it hard to believe Posey was doing either of those. And no company being fiscally smart is going to have this type of arrangement. It's laughable that people think this was a perfectly normal work arrangement.

Im a construction worker. All that was really required was that you do physical labor. I didnt have to be specialized in anything to get hired. Why dont you quote my post?

Key word, excavating company. My buddy who is a concrete worker is nothing more than an expendable grunt. He wouldn't be any more of a skilled worker than Posey.

dynasty, you are getting owned by people who can actually relate to that type of work. Give it up.

And he's doing it for a living. It's his career.

You honestly think everything was on the up-and-up? In other words, would an average student be given the same employment opportunity?

No it's not. He was a college student at the time. He actually does graphic design now.

No, because he was getting paid for hours that he wasn't even commuting. That isn't what we are talking about. You just don't understand getting paid for commuting.

That isn't the issue we are discussing. You don't believe that grunts get paid for commuting. The reality is, they do.

I understand that. But we are talking about Devier Posey. You think he's doing the same work you are?

No that's not it. I understand people can get paid for their commute. I'm not arguing that.

I'm saying the fact that that is Posey's defense in his pay is shady.

But it's not. The fact that they can't even account for 5 hours at all at this point is shady. Even then, call centers even pay bonuses, so that isn't even as shady as even I think it is.

I've mentioned Posey specifically in almost every post. I'm not sure why you would have thought otherwise.

You don't believe people get paid for commuting, not getting paid for the actual work they do at work.

I don't know if that's a double negative or just doesn't make any sense.

I am talking about Posey. I don't give a crap about Joe the Plumber. This thread is about Posey being suspended in the college football forum. Why would I want to discuss union contracts? Keep up.

He was working for an excavating company, excavating companies have to follow union contracts depending on the job they are doing, so typically, they will follow those pay rules year round.

Try to keep up.

So he joined the union? He paid his union fees? All for what, 30 hours of work. That makes sense. Good argument.

If not, I'm sure the union steward was okay with it...

Good response.

So did he join the union or not?

If yes, that doesn't make sense for 2 weeks of work.

If no, he wouldn't be paid as a union employee.

I am not a member of the union but work for a union company. I get paid the exact same amount as the union workers in my company. However, instead of getting it in benefits, I get it in cash. So I make $36/hr...while union members make $25/26 an hour. SMFH. And my union fees still get paid because I do work in multiple districts in the state and even in WV.

Where did I say they had to unionize? You are really clueless here. To get commercial contracts, companies will sometimes have to pay the same as the unionized companies do. Sometimes they will have to offer some of the benefits that the unionized companies do. A lot of times, larger companies will just follow many of these guidelines year round in order to stay competitive when bidding.
