As we approach the tenth anniversary of our generations day that will live in infamy, how have the events of that day effected your life now?

I find myself ( and I am not proud of this) more suspicious of people who resemble they are of Middle Eastern decent. Flying now is a pain in the ass, and I complain each time I fly. I lost an alumni of my high school in the ensuing war.

My life hasn't changed at all other than a little more of a pain at the airport.

While going through security is a bit of a nuisance, especially with the liquids and other stuff you can't even bring on a carry-on, I think the lines at airports are shorter than ever. I'm sure we're paying for the increased personnel one way or another, but the higher security finally forced them to get the lines more manageable. Of course, some of that may also be related to fewer flights and maybe less people flying in general since prices are more than double what they were even 5-6 years ago.

It hasnt affected the way I LIVE much. Granted I was a freshman in HS, so my life hadnt even started really But my everyday goings on hasnt changed a bit. I, like you, judge a "book by its cover." I know it isnt good or right, but it isnt as if I act on it. I simple think it in small doses.

Security theater. We are not 1 iota safer today than we were 10 years ago. Well, strike that they reinforced the cockpit doors and the public would absolutely murder anyone ever trying to hijack a plane again. So, I guess we have that going for us at least. Everything else, TSA is just window dressing.

Since 9-11 I joined the Marine Corps. I have 2 great kids and the most amazing lady in my life. I lost my brother in this war who was my best friend. He left behind a great wife and a beautiful daughter and twin boys he never got to meet. A year after my brother was killed I lost my leg when my patrol was hit by an IED. I have since moved on and now live in North Dakota. I do find my self still discriminating against Middle East people but I continually try to work on it. I fly an American and POW flag everyday in my front yard as I believe we live in the greatest Country in the world.

Whenever a large airplane flies over kinda low I just kinda have that little shade of doubt anymore, but I was a 5th grader and that day certainly has affected the way we all live life. I'd say the way people act in general have been very different since then

I'm going to have to check with Gibby to confirm, but I think Michael Jackson's death was only like two years ago.

I started a thread about this.....it is called The Healing Field.

It is in Bryant Indiana, less than 10 min from the Ohio border in West Central Ohio. It is a tremendous event that has been held in many places across the US.

healingfield.org is the site for info. THat one runs from 2 Sept throuh 11 Sept. A great way to honor the men and women.

I was home from work that day and man was I glued to the TV.

My brother had always wanted to enlist and decided on college first. When 9/11 happened it secured his opinion to go ahead and do so and when he graduated college with an engineering degree and worked for a year in his field he enlisted and served 3 tours as a Navy SEAL.

God bless all those who serve.

im no greenspan but you would have to be a dunder to think it didnt have a negative effect on our economy. while we were in a recession already and there are many bigger reasons than 9/11. i still think it played a part. Stock market , insurance, tourism were all negetively effected, change in behaviors leading to small businesses going under helping to increase unemployment. 9/11 imo indirectly led to the war in Iraq and afghanistan, costing trillions of dollars in spending let alone the price of gas...

It's not a joke, no way you pay for a single seat. Also, enjoy dying before you're 50.
