I have no idea either. I went twice and both times the theater was full of people laughing and enjoying the movie.bigdaddy2003;1164849 wrote:Nah, seemed like he was from St. Louis. How anyone could say the movie was boring is beyond me though.

"Everybody knew that The Avengers movie was coming. As I said, there was always an Easter Egg or bonus scene within each characters movie that connected them to the story arch."
Agreed, we knew it was coming because of Easter Egg or bonus scene, not part of the film itself, aside from Nick Fury's odd conversation with Stark in IM2.

But the problem with that is it would be hard to have a movie focusing on Iron Man or the Hulk or Captain America or Thor or whatever if you had all the characters constantly showing up throughout the film.Manhattan Buckeye;1164860 wrote:"Everybody knew that The Avengers movie was coming. Haven't seen CA (my wife liked it). Iron Man 1 was good, I didn't go gaga over it like some people did. Iron Man 2 was awful. I enjoyed Ed Norton's Hulk more than Eric Bana's, but I wouldn't call it great cinema. I've never made it past Thor. Fell asleep on it twice.I Wear Pants;1164861 wrote:But the problem with that is it would be hard to have a movie focusing on Iron Man or the Hulk or Captain America or Thor or whatever if you had all the characters constantly showing up throughout the film.
I guess I'm tempering my expectations. Robert Downey is amazing as Iron Man, and Joss Whedon has a very positive history, but not infallible. I just want to know what I'm getting - a film that changes the genre, or Transformers 4.

You're creating a dichotomy of expectations that doesn't exist or need to there. It isn't a world changer or anything but it certainly isn't the equivalent of Michael Bay style garbage.Manhattan Buckeye;1164865 wrote:Haven't seen CA (my wife liked it). It made a shitload yes, but I'm not hearing the same "OMG GAMECHANGER" buzz with this as I did from Avatar. It's a fun film to watch, great popcorn flick. And it wasn't trying to be more which is nice.Manhattan Buckeye;1164868 wrote:Well it certainly made a lot of money this past weekend, as did Avatar (which stunk donkey balls).

A lot of people have seen it. The reviews are still incredibly positive. That should be enough.

For the record, Avatar was beautiful, but the movie is crazy overrated.
I'd watch The Avengers anytime over Avatar.

I'm pumped for Thanos to be the villain in the 2nd Avengers. The only problem is that it probably won't come out until 2014.

Better character portrayal
RDJ as Tony Stark
or
Heath Ledger as Joker?

His joker was very good, but the way downey plays tony stark is about dead on as you can get.

Ledger. Way tougher role. RDJ nails the part, but it is an easier part to nail than The Joker than Nolan came up with.

Before watching batman I wondered why the hell are they doing the joker again? No one is going to top Jack Nicholson's joker. Boy was I wrong.Laley23;1165990 wrote:Ledger. Way tougher role. RDJ nails the part, but it is an easier part to nail than The Joker than Nolan came up with.

As great as RDJ is as Tony Stark, his performance is not even close to Heath Ledger's. And I really think it's thru no fault of his acting; it's just the Joker is a far more dynamic / interesting character than Tony Stark. The Joker possesses so many dimensions and is such a deep character, that I don't think even if RDJ turned in a 100% performance he still would fall short of Ledger's Joker.

Yeah, I don't think it's a hard question to answer. Even though I think Downey Jr. was the perfect choice for Tony Stark Ledger's Joker is definitely the answer

I disagree.
Downy carried a movie, ledger was great, but his death skews peoples view....and he was a secondary character

I get what you are saying but Ledger killed the part and it wasn't easy. Downey kills the part but it's not totally hard. Villains never get their own movie.wes_mantooth;1166181 wrote:I disagree.
