It was great how they gave each hero enough screen time, too.

agreed...although the actual hulk wasn't on screen as much....but when he was, he was pretty awesome.

Watched Avengers last night and I absolutely loved it. Also got a chuckle when I was walking out and the first extra scene came on and all the nerds in the crowd cheered and yelled "THANOS" I'm guessing he will be the next villan?

So what was this second end scene?

I laughed so much during this movie I swore it was a comedy. I want to talk about so much of this movie but dont want to give shit away.

[sp]It's the entire Avengers team post-battle quietly eating shawarma for about a minute, no dialogue. And if you're wondering, it's Bruce Banner there, not Hulk. For those that don't get it, it's a reference to a line Tony Stark says in the*movie*about how he knows of a shawarma place nearby.*[/sp]

Use the spoiler tag then... [sp] text [sp]. Be sure to put "/" in before the second "sp".

I just got back from watching Avengers. I thought it was pretty solid. I will probably check it out again Tuesday in the theater because I watched it at the drive in tonight and there are things I couldnt see. I couldn't even tell what was going on in the Thanos scene or the scene where they were sitting at the table.

Avengers smashes the opening weekend box office record with 200.3 million in the US and Canada...

Previous best was the last Harry Potter bringing in a shade over 169 million.

With International fix included, The Avengers is sitting at an estimated 641.8 million, which means this movie will no doubt go past the billion dollar mark.

I saw Avengers over the weekend and it was pretty good. I agree with everyone else that the Hulk was pretty damn funny and Robert Downey Jr/Iron man was really good. I'm sure they made so much money they will be coming out with another and I will be happy to see it. I also saw it in 3D and I'm not sure it was worth the extra money. 2D would have been just fine with me.

Haven't seen The Avengers yet (will try to catch it on Wednesday) but one question if could possibly be answered spoiler free: How did Whedon and company write in Iron Man into a world with a Hulk and Thor? In the Iron Man films Tony Stark became a dominant force as a result of technology - likewise the villains (both lame IMO) also resulted from technology.

What?

The Hulk originated from Technology as well, in a sense... Thor is from a different world.

Captain America also was a scientific breakthrough.

Neither were present in the first two Iron Man films (I'm ignoring CA for the moment). In the Iron Man films Tony Stark more or less ruled the world with his Iron Man tech - to the point that he was subject to Congressional scrutiny in the (lame) second film.

My question is how did Whedon and co. write in the new Avengers. I understand Nick Fury alluded to it in Iron Man 2 - but it isn't clear without watching the new film how it was blended together.

I think you are analyzing it too much. It is just a fun movie....probably some plot holes, but it is very well done

They don't start the film together. They also explain the "Avengers initiative" in the film. Also, Tony Stark was present in the last Hulk movie, Captain America's shield was also seen in one of the Hulk movies I believe....

The Avengers is a shared universe. All the characters are in the same world, per se. Nick Fury connected all of them in each movie, basically.

Was it the guy from the LA Times? He gave it a 40/100... He had the only score below an 80 I think on Fandango.. SMH.

They live in the same universe (canon wise). I'm sure throughout the history of the books, comics, movies, games, and shows involving the characters they've created some plot holes or things that don't make sense.

Well certainly they live in the same universe. I'm just curious how it was handled in the script. In the Dark Knight Rises if Superman just suddenly appeared it would raise many questions, even though in the DC comics it is clear that Batman lives in a world with other powers (whether they be supernatural or technological).

Nah, seemed like he was from St. Louis. How anyone could say the movie was boring is beyond me though.

That would be weird because there was no backstory or foreshadowing of Superman arriving in the movie. As far as we know, Christopher Nolans Batman has no idea there are any other heroes in the universe.

Everybody knew that The Avengers movie was coming. As I said, there was always an Easter Egg or bonus scene within each characters movie that connected them to the story arch.

Spider Man is in the same universe as The Avengers and has fought along their side as well. That'll probably never happen on the big screen though due to licensing..

Yeah but that wouldn't make sense in the context of that film since the Nolan Batman films aren't really traditional comic book films. (People throw around the word "gritty" a lot in regards to them). The movies based on Marvel properties included in the Avengers haven't really been that way.

They started to weave it into the most recent films (Iron Man 2, etc) a bit but those were probably later additions I assume since movies take a while to make and perhaps the Avengers film wasn't yet set in stone or at least not in the way of it being a massive blockbuster. Which would make it so they wouldn't want to make the Avengers an integral part of the films before it was a sure thing.

At least that's my speculation.
