Ledger, not even close for me. The dialogue in Avengers was down right pitiful. Also Stark's character had no depth IMO. When I saw Ledger in Dark Knight I knew that was winning the oscar. Only felt that way about 2 other roles; DDL in There Will be Blood, and John Goodman as Walter in Big Lebowski. Still smh at the oscars that year.

Just looked it up and noticed that he wasn't even nominated. Wow The best example I can give of feeling this way was after I watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape and assumed DiCaprio won Best Supporting Actor only to find out Tommy Lee Jones won for The Fugitive.

Chris Waltz in Inglorious Basterds? That might have been the biggest no-brainer in Oscar history.

I thought The Avengers was the best comic book hero movie in a LONG time. I won't say it was the best movie I've seen in a long time, but it was by far the best hero movie I've seen in a long time.

Also, the answer to the posed question is Ledger, and it isn't really that close.

Dark Knight wasn't that long ago. Less than 4 years ago.

Hmm, good point...they are pretty close but I would give TDK a slight edge over Avengers.

Wow, you really liked Avengers. They're not even in the same league for me. DK is a great film, Avengers is a fun campy action flick. Just my opinion.

They are almost different genres to be honest, Avengers was really huge action film with a lot of action sequences. TDK was a super hero movie that developed the characters.

There is no doubt Avengers played the 'wow' action card while TDK played to a real movie audience.

Like I said, almost different genres but TDK was better overall. Plus I got a good laugh out of some of the one liners in Avengers.

Saw the advanced screening of Battleship tonight:

Semi-Spoiler I guess:

If you are looking for good acting, don't see it.
If you are looking for 2 hours of good entertainment which is very pro america, has a few good laughs, a decent amount of good fight scenes, and a hot ass biddy then see it!

7/10 but VERY entertaining

I enjoyed the Avengers slightly more than TDK honestly.

No knock on TDK, I just REALLY liked the Avengers.

Also, with much shock to everyone, the Avenger eclipsed the billion dollar mark.

Saw the Avengers on Sunday - good movie, would recommend it to anyone. Great action, lots of clever dialogue, acting for the most part (Downey is always awesome) was good, some very cheesy scenes and predictable but what comic book movies aren't. That said, IMO it is no where near TDK quality which was a great movie that just happened to be about a comic book. There wasn't an underlying theme or serious moment, other than "hey guys we need to work as a team!" That doesn't make it bad, I enjoyed it but to be honest it was a much better written, directed, choreographed, and acted film than a Michael Bay film.

If by clever you mean horribly written one liners by someone with the education of a 7th grader, then yes. You are correct.

There were certainly instances of bad dialogue, the one that comes to mind is Stark's ED speak with Loki after Loki's rod (no pun intended) or whatever didn't work on Stark. But for the most part is wasn't that cheesy, particularly Captain American's lines which could have been disastrous. I think the writers did a good job with his character.

Tell me this, are there actual US Battleships in the movie? Because, aren't they all mothballed? And I thought we already had a movie about something bad happening to mothballed battleships (and yes, I am talking about Under Siege).

I saw the Avengers last week in IMAX 3D, it was awesome. Better than I thought it would be. For a comic movie, pretty good writing. And, solid in terms of holding to the comic book lore.

It wasn't that bad, but the scene when the cop asks captain america why he should listen to him was very predictable.

They have 1 battleship and a bunch of real destroyers such as the JPJ, Missouri, and Ronald Reagan

BTW saw the dictator tonight,

I rate it a 6/10. It was funny, but not nearly as funny as Borat. Much MUCH funnier than Bruno, however

A new villain of Iron Man 3 will be...Eric Savin, aka Coldblood!

Ben Kingsley will also be in the movie.

Is he going to be the main villain? I've never heard of him. I take it he's a bad ass?
