5 year looked like ass to me. The Raven had an interesting plot, but I had my doubts. No going to see that either.
The Avengers will definitely be seen by me this weekend sometime.

Haha you didn't like Jason Segel in I love you Man?wes_mantooth;1158111 wrote:I thought it was more of a drama than a comedy.....like a less funny version of knocked up.
The raven wasn't great, coming off the first flick.....it seemed entertaining.
Other than "I love you man", this was probably the first role that I didn't like Jason segel
That's one of my favorite comedies, so underrated.

Got dragged into watching The Hunger Games today.
I was pleasantly surprised. Never read the books, but I knew the basic plot line. Movie was actually pretty good. I'd give it a B+

The fact that MIB 3 is being made saddens me. 1 is dated. 2 was awful, what's 3 going to be?
On the plane I saw some dated films:
1) The Muppets - good nostalgia, loved Statler and Waldorf. Overall didn't have the heart of the original Muppets, Chris Cooper wasn't used correctly and Amy Adams might as well have been a muppet.
2) Hugo - very good, Chloe Moretz was amazing, and Kingsley showed why he's been knighted. Not sure if it was best picture worthy but definitely worth seeing.
3) We Need to Talk About Kevin - Tilda Swinton does a phenomenal job - haven't read the book but the film is too one-sided. The son is like a cross between The Omen and the demon son of Satan. Not much to go with, to quote Rodney Dangerfield from Caddyshack "this is why tigers eat their young." A good performance was outweighed by the lack of gravity and reality. I really, really hated that kid.
4) Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Phenomenal action, not sure how much Renner added to the cast and the villain was milquetoast at best. Worth watching, even for Cruise antagonists.
5) Sherlock Holmes, Game of Secrets - Downey nails the character, it isn't the classic Holmes but ridiculously entertaining.
6) Caddyshack - just gets better with age.

I watched the 4th installment of Mission: Impossible a few nights back. Not bad. It's whatever.
I think what I was most happy about was the fact that it is the first movie I have seen with actual people - non-animation or computer images - since The Bourne Trilogy. Before that, I have no idea what it was. Maybe Michael Clayton!?!?!?! Good grief! Kids... But hey, I really enjoyed Tangled and the Incredibles.

OSH: I have no sound at the moment, but I did watch that trailor. A few things...
#1) Dear GOD!?!?!?! Here's hoping that watching the trailor WITH sound offers some insight to what the film is REALLY about. I also hope it sheds light that it's really a comedy. WoW!
#2) Who is that main character being played by? Did he play in One Crazy Summer!?!?!?!?!?! If so, was that the same movie as "I want my two dollars!" John Cusak was in both, I'm pretty sure.
#3) Directed by who!?!?!? I thought he died??? How about that...

It's pretty funny. You definitely need to watch it with sound. I couldn't imagine watching that without sound! I may have to try that... :laugh:cruiser_96;1159915 wrote:OSH: I have no sound at the moment, but I did watch that trailor. A few things...

Saw a preview for Lawless today. It looks like it may be worth a look.

I just finished watching the third of the Swedish Millennium series today. Great, but not as good as the books. Hopefully the Americans finish the trilogy, I have read that both Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are both signed on, best film by far that I have seen in years.

I thought about hitting a midnight showing but I figure it will be packed so I doubt it. There were cats coming in yesterday to buy tickets for the weekend.

I thought I read someone said don't waste your time seeing Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? I heard it wasn't very good. Still haven't seen it yet (obviously).Manhattan Buckeye;1159418 wrote:

I saw Sherlock Holmes 2, and I was very disappointed. I thought the 1st one was phenomenal; the 2nd one... not so much. It was too dry, IMO.

Why is there so much buzz around Dark Shadows? Don't get me wrong I'm sure there are a couple funny lines and I'm sure Depp plays a good weird vampire in his own right but the show that was on in the 60's wasn't a comedy. I'm more interested in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter than I am Dark Shadows. It's a Tim Burton movie that doesn't seem to have a comedy/weird theme.

It looks dumb as hell to me, BUT with Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeifer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green and Chloe Grace Moretz it definitely has some quality actors. I'm trying to keep an open mind.bigdaddy2003;1162484 wrote:Why is there so much buzz around Dark Shadows? Yeah, I'm sure it will be ok but I guess I'm just a little turned off because I keep hearing from older people that the show was dark and then the preview for the movie comes out and it's basically a comedy. Like I said I'm sure Depp will pull off a weird vampire fairly well but I'm only partially interested.FatHobbit;1162643 wrote:It looks dumb as hell to me, BUT with Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeifer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green and Chloe Grace Moretz it definitely has some quality actors. I agree, the best entertainment I ever had was going to a midnight showing of one of the first 3 episodes (prequels) of Star Wars. Watching a 'live' fight between two grown men with light sabers, one dressed as Obi-Wan and one dressed as Darth Maul was fanfreakingtastic.FatHobbit;1161422 wrote:I would love to go to the midnight showing tonight. Saw Avengers at midnight. It was awesome. And I never saw The Hulk or Captain America. Seeing the "other movies" would certainly help, but it is not needed.
But the movie was great. Robert Downy Jr. was amazing as usual.
