Cozart is getting tons of pitches in, and he is hammering them. I imagine the Pirates will try the other side of the plate. Lets hope he has the same kind of week he has had here.

Doesn't Brantley know the we have Gomes up here? No need for Alonso or Frazier.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gomes gets dfa'd at July 31 deadline.

Dusty is Billy Haywood, and Gomes is his Jerry. Dancing after a seeing eye single. Can't accept the reality that he doesn't cut it, because he still collects Gomes baseball cards.

Or right after his Bobblehead day on the 23rd.

Remember though that after the first couple successful games he had he went the other way with a couple hits. That is the right thing to do, then they came back in. That is what they say that hitting is a game of adjustments. Cozart seems to be way ahead of some other Reds with much more ML experience that don't get that as well yet!

Time to go bye bye Gomes. There is no reason to keep him. There are already 2 guys on the team who are better. Plus Dusty needs saved from himself

CoCo not overthrowing so far, letting natural movement help him. Milwaukee he seemed to be trying to throw it through the catcher, and break every pitch off like it was his best slider.

I'm not sure which is the bigger lineup flub that Dusty continuously makes. Stubbs leadoff or Gomes 5th?

Playing Heisey everyday in left might help. He isn't an ideal leadoff hitter either, but he is a far better fit than Stubbs is

Good! Now if they can get the back to back win drought broken tomorrow. I'll be in Pitt to watch the 3 games. I think I'll have to abdicate my good seat close to the field for one in the shade for that high temp & humidity, middle of the day, game on Wednesday.

Have fun, what a great park. Never been there when the Reds or the Pirates were good, should be a great atmosphere.

Can someone tell me where Cairo hit it for a triple?
Nice win though now we need to get 2/3 from Pitt.

Why? Given his K rate, if he had the same number of ABs as Stubbs he'd be 3rd in the league in Ks.

Heisey has a .303 OBP leading off. The only upside is he has 7 HRs in 66 PAs but that isn't sustainable over a whole season because 5 of those came in 2 games. At least I think both of his multi-HR games were batter leadoff.

Stubbs has a .340 OBP out of the leadoff spot, which is I think above league average for leadoff hitters.

Doesn't he have a 2 yr contract? Do you think his mind-set is "go for clobbering HRs and try to get a big pay day, and if I can't and get close to the end of the contract, I'll cut down, go oppo and become valuable for another small contract"? Or is he just stupid?

I think Heisey would improve with more playing time. He hasn't received consistent playing all season. He keeps getting jerked around by Dusty. It is really hard to play consistent when you have no idea when you are going to play next.

Funny you should put your $0.02 in. You're one of the Edgar Renteria apologists. I'm guessing some of your posts from early on in the season are even more comical now.

You're a joke....my stance on renteria is and has always been we ll need him come the end of the season...its not like I've said he's had a good season...he's been bad but he ll make it count come September /October
