The Red Cross doesn't pay you for any blood giving. Private places do pay you for giving plasma though.

Snort...^

AB- here - dammed genetics. I've given at least 4 time a year since college.

Anyone go though that "double cell" donation, where they pull two pints of blood, centrifuge the red blood cells into one pint of fluid, then put the remaining fluid back into you? I tried it on two occasions, and regretted it both times - I was woozy for at least a day.

I'm A+. I haven't gave since they MADE me give in Basic Training, over 24 years ago. The Wife gave blood many years ago, but has since quit. We keep getting calls early in the AM from the blood center. We've called them and asked them to call later in the afternoon if possible, but NOOO they ignored our request. Now we ignore theirs.

I have High Blood Pressure. Many years ago the Wife was giving blood and I went over and had my Blood Pressure checked. The person that checked it wanted to call "amber lamps" for me it was so high. He thought I was going to stroke out at anytime. I do take meds for it now and it's ok.

I give blood every three months instead of 56 days because that's when they come to my place of employment.
I am O- and when I walk in the red carpet comes out. Same thing happens with all O- people

I used to give 3+ times a year, but haven't in a while. I'm O neg and whenever I went I would always give the double red cell. It takes a little longer, but I kind of like the feeling of it afterwards. Also, if you give doubles the people at the food tables let you stay longer so I chow down on some sammiches, cookies, and then take a pack or two home. I figure since they don't pay me for the blood I can take the food that was donated to them anyway.
