Some are just saying that there is more to the story, and maybe Tressel isn't as guilty as some are saying(intent may have been good just poor execution) or he is more or less taking the fall. All of these at least have plausibility to it.

You on the other hand are bringing up stuff about coaches being implicated in criminal cases and information that has no established fact behind it. While I can never rule anything out, your posts are more consistent with a conspiracy theory than any other posts.

I am only going off of what I have been told.I don't see much of a conspiracy with this case, he got caught and some people don't want to believe it.Here is a nice little story that you can read that may help you understand that the man is no better than any other coach and he has always tried to cheat the system.

Give me a break on this article. I am sure I could find many more from opposing "fans, teams sports writers". Haters are going to hate and run with this story. Thats a no brainer. Paterno is class act, no question. But he has had his fair share of issues with players over the past 5 years. I believe they were near the top in player arrests, in trouble with the law. No coach is perfect, including JoePa.

I am not trying to say that Paterno is perfect. My point is that Tressel has had accusations eveywhere he has coached and some are major ones but were swept under the carpet, his own players have implicated him and he still escapes punishment.I am far from a OSU hater but this man is going to ruin everything that OSU has worked very hard to accomplish. He is guilty and he should move on, since some of you think he is covering for someone else because he wants to protect the program then he could really help the program by leaving before this goes deeper and reveals more violations that will destroy their image.

^^^sportswriters like her should be fired for being stupid. The coach, at worst failed to report a possible rules violation, and it's unclear at the time whether or what the proof was that one had in effect occurred. At most, he is guilty of trying to protect his players....he didn't rape or abuse anyone. No federal statute was violated, no misdemeanor, no criminal offense. Yet this idiot (and others like her) think Tressel should "have the dignity" to resign. One has to wonder whether her driving record could stand up to such scrutiny. Never roll thru a stop sign? drive over the speed limit? What? you didn't turn yourself in to the police? You have no integrity....you should have the dignity to turn in your operator's permit !!!!!

I find it unbelievable that people can earn a living peddling such tripe.

The coach got a big fine and a suspension that seems appropriate for the 'crime'. Any common criminal gets to walk after he pays his fine and does his time. Why shouldn't Tressel?

Again...some of you guys are missing the point of why people are upset. Most are not upset about the failing to report the possible violation to the NCAA. That is very minor and can be forgiven...especially since his reasoning was to protect his players.

The problems that people like that writer have with the situation is that Tressel, the man that basically preaches about living life the right way and leading a virtuous life, lied about not reporting said violation.

Ever since I was young, my parents have always said to me that if I do something wrong, they are going to be upset with me. But it can be forgiven. If I do something wrong, and then I lie about it, they are going to be upset with me AND lose all trust in me. They have told me that the lying would be worse than what I did wrong initially.

The lying and covering up to save himself is what most people are upset about. People really could care less about the initial failure to report. If that was the only thing, people would probably be fine with the suspension handed out and would move on. But the fact that Tressel betrayed that trust makes people question his true character.

Absolutely. What was his comment again, "I just hope Tressel doesn't fire me' or something like that. Gee is the definition of a figurehead. Now if it comes out later that it is way worse you have made the whole university look dumb because of Gee and not just athletics.

I'm unsure as to what he actually 'lied about'? And even if he is guilty about lying what's wrong with his message? It's a good message even if it's "do as i say, not as I do".

The man is human...I haven't seen anything here that suggests anything other than a good man made a mistake.

Hits, he lied on several occasions. He lied the other night at the press conference. You are not so naive to believe he had no clue what to do with the email he received about the potential NCAA violations and the relationship with Rife, are you? The man has been in coaching for over 30 years. He was an AD at YSU and he has probably been in touch with the Compliance Department hundreds of times in the past 10 years. You do realize he told the NCAA in a written statement that he was not aware of any potential NCAA violations in September right? You do remember back in December before the bowl game he told everyone he had just found out about the players selling their gear for tattoos, right?

Your letting your allegiances cloud your judgment.

Sorry, but anyone calling Chris Spielman a moron just isn't right. I am not sure I look up to a man more than I do Spielman. And not for what he did on the football field. You may not agree with him, I don't sometimes. But calling him a moron is uncalled for. You can only hope to be half the person/man that Chris Spielman is.

I really don't care if you look up to him (lol), what he said was moronic so I am going to call him a moron.

Along these lines, does anyone have a link to a column by an Ohio journalist (or any journalist, for that matter) that has come to Coach Tressel's defense? I'd love to see something, anything, because the negative articles are overwhelming.

Just want to remind everyone, before they get worked up by idiot dynasty's posts, he has publicly admitted on this forum that he enjoys to "ruffle the feathers of other posters... why not it's fun?"

How this is not trolling is beyond me. I guess we have to watch the idiocy go on.

That is all.
