I just drank an Old Speckled Hen. I didn't like it.
Can I be a beer snob now?

Had the Bell's Special Double Cream Stout tonight. Good stuff.Wooball;1036633 wrote:Had lots of stouts this weekend. Also had the 120 minute, which was just as glorious as I remember. At approximately 18% ABV it was a great way to start off NYE.
The stouts I would rate in the following order:
Founders Breakfast Stout - always a great choice. The coffee and chocolate flavors are enormous.
Three Floyds Black Sun Stout - surprised by the hoppiness. Almost reminded me of a Black IPA, but still w/ the traditional stout/chocolate flavors. Very good, will drink again.
Old Rasputin - Wasn't screwing around this weekend. Another great beer.
Bell's Special Double Cream Stout - This rated 4th for me, but still a great brew. Very creamy and smooth. Would drink again.

I had one of these last night on tap. It was pretty good, but my spicy wings made it hard to get a good feel for. I will have to have it again. Definaly couldn't tell it was 9.1%abv.
The local lizard has Victory Storm King Stout on tap. That is next on the list. GLBC Edmund Fitz there now too, which is always a good one.

Once a year release for one thing. The main reason it's pricey is due to the amount of hops it takes to brew...Plus there are dumbasses out there like me that will pay that for it.ernest_t_bass;1052655 wrote:Why so pricey?

I had a Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat a few days ago and loved it. Really creamy and chocolatey. Very disappointed to discover it isn't available in Ohio.

Had some Hopslam and the new Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA today. Over the past few years I always thought Hopslam was a bit overrated; I didn't care for the honey flavor it has but it's starting to grow on me now. The Ruthless Rye IPA is very good. The rye stands out and tasted even better when I had it while eating BBQ pork, the flavor combos were awesome. This time of year is awesome for good beers, I'm most looking forward to Troegs Nugget Nectar which should be coming out soon. Easily in my top 10.

Understandable, I have to admit the the constancy differs a lot from year to year for Hopslam. The first I had it was in 2006 and it blew my freakin' mind, but the the 2009 had some really funky stuff happening. While not bad, just not quite as good as the previous years. 2010 had less funkyness to it, but wasn't as good as in the earlier years. 2011 was much like the 2010, just a little less funky and this years has much less. More honey I guess is present in it this year.BORIStheCrusher;1054134 wrote:Had some Hopslam and the new Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA today. Troegs doesn't make the 2XIPA, Southern Tier does. But, I agree Troegs does make some quality beers.Sonofanump;1054428 wrote:I'll have to try that, Troegs makes great beers, loved the 2xIPA.
