- 1 Cup Pumpkin Beer
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Spice
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Salt, and Pumpkin Spice. Make a well in the middle and add Eggs, Oil, Buttermilk, and Beer. Mix until wet throughout (clumps are ok and will cook out) but be careful not to over stir (you might end up with some tough cakes).
- Heat a buttered skillet or griddle on medium-high heat. Pour batter onto skillet. About a ¼ cup of batter per cake is a good measure. Brown on both sides (flipping only once, not back and forth). Serve right off the stove.

Finally had a Dogfish Head Punkin Ale last night. Really liked that brew. Had a really good taste.
I also had a Rivertown Pumpkin Ale last night. It was decent. But didn't have as much flavor as the Dogfish Head or the Pumking.

OK, not gonna lie, I know, not surprising, but I've never ventured outside the realm of Bud Light. But reading the thread has got me intrigued. Figured I'd try something different, but have no idea where to start! Lol What is something easy to find that I definitely have to try? Any suggestions?

No, just go get some Sam Adams, Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Get an IPA or something. There are beers that are snobbier than Bud Light at the gas station.

Well since you're not accustomed to bitter/hoppy/etc... beers I'd start off slow. You'll probably hate a double IPA or an imperial stout right off the bat. Best bet is to ease in. I'll echo ETB's suggestion, start with something like an octoberfest, red ale, pale ale etc... I think Sierra Nevada Pale Ale would be a great place to start. That or a brown ale/Dogfish Head Pumpkin beer. Something like those are great intro beers that really have more flavor/things to offer over a bud lite. My suggestion is to look around the beer aisle and pick something that looks good or appealing to you.

COA gave some good info. Breweries like Sierra Nevada, Great Lakes, and Sam Adams all have great beers in their lineup and are pretty easy to find. Do you have any places near you that have a big selection of beer? Back when I first got into craft beer I would go to the beer isle and grab something random every week just to try something new and get an idea for different styles and beers. If you've read through some of the thread then you should see some regulars posting what they are drinking and what they think. As for me tonight, I just had some Deschutes Twilight that my brother brought back from Seattle. Thought it was pretty good; would love to have access to this beer in the summer.

Went to a couple different places, but nobody had much of a selection. I ended up just getting some Blue Moon Harvast Pumpkin Ale. Definitely something different from my normal taste.

Having Magic Hat, Not Quite Pale Ale. Really love it. It has an almost fruity flavor, can't quite pinpoint. Anyone had it? If so, what is it that gives it its distinct flavor?

Went to the Zinzinnati Craft Brewers Oktoberfest today. Started of with the Blank Slate Fork in the Road. It states that it's and India Amber Ale, but this was veeeerry hoppy. First beer I tried and it about blew my palate out. Great beer. Finished off the day with a Quaff Bros Brown Chicken Brown Cow.This was a barrel aged Brown ale and pretty damn great. Nice bourbon flavor made it feel like a barley wine style. I know you can't get either in bottles so I'll have to try to find them on draft again in the future.

I was a detractor when it came to pumpkin brews. Didn't like 'em. Didn't have 'em. This is no more.
Had a New Holland Ichabod on Friday night, and wow. Not too overpowering spices, just a really awesome, awesome beer. Loved it.

I think they just brew it in September and October. I'm not sure because this is the first year I've gotten into Pumpkin beers. Last night, I wanted to try something different so I started the night with a Wells Banana Bread Beer. It wasn't terrible. You can really smell the banana in it, but the taste isn't overpowering. It wasn't very heavy...so I could see myself having quite a few of them in a night.

Busch, Natty, and Miller Lite. Someone brought a 6er of Stella which was gone in about .3 sec. Not a Stella fan anyways. Also could have had sugary as hell mixed drink which they had in a bucket. Surprisingly I passed on that as well.like_that;1289898 wrote:Beer 30?
