lol I think you're taking my comment a bit too serious; I don't care what people like or not. And I don't see where I got upset over someone not liking a pumpkin beer. Their are tons of beers out there and I know everybody has a different opinion, but I know after years of appreciating good beer that your taste will most likely change over time. Some beers you will grow to like, some you won't. There are plenty of beers that other people love that I don't.

If you want to label the equivalent of a wine cooler "beer", you certainly may.

Fair enough. I do like it, but to each his own.

FYI, don't try Southern Tier's Creme Brulee Stout. I've recommended it on here for beer floats a couple times, but if you don't like sweet alcohol, then you wouldn't care for it.

I'm not sure, but I took his posts to be sort of tongue in cheek.

That's like insisting that any ice cream flavor but vanilla isn't ice cream. There are four necessary ingredients to constitute a beer, but I've never read or heard of a credible source determining that those are the only ingredients in beer. The "craft" in craft brewing is the experimentation ... I'm not sure how one can see that as a bad thing. Granted, sometimes the experimentation is the manipulation of just those four elements, but it certainly doesn't have to be excluded to that. You can certainly not prefer those kinds of beers, but they often fit every single criterion of a craft brew, which is why your wine cooler parallel is inaccurate ... wine coolers compared to their liquor counterparts have a laughably small volume of alcohol per unit. With craft brews, that's not necessarily the case.

Even though reinheitsegebot has been replaced by a somewhat less strict law, I'd still call it a credible source.

As I recall, Reinheitsgebot was instituted prior to even knowing about yeast, so technically, it was three.

Also, Reinheitsgebot legislated how beer could be made in a Germany. It wasn't defining beer. It was regulating its creation, much like Ohio does with regulating its sale today with its 12% law. To use Reinheitsgebot (dear lord, it's annoying writing that out) to define all beers, even outside those brewed in Germany would be equitable to applying Ohio's 12% law to all beers, and saying that if it's over 12%, it's not beer.

And I still don't see where I got upset over you not liking a beer. A lot of times I just hear from people who drink nothing but Bud Light tell me the stuff I drink doesn't taste like beer; makes no sense to me. Yes, pumpkin beers are a unique style and not for everyone but if I said IPAs didn't taste like beer it would sound crazy.

Someone's got their jimmies rustled.

Since when did GIF images become good indicators of actual emotion?

I don't care that you don't like Pumking (more for the rest of us), I just thought those were funny.

Calm down meow.

Wait...so if i use a gif my tone will be conveyed better? Got it. I'm not mad, thought it was funny how snobbish everyone was when a couple people said they didn't like pumpkin beer. You tell me to gtfo and boris said he got annoyed that i didn't think it tasted like beer.

You're right though, more liquid pastry for you.

Arguably false is accurate, absolutely false is absolutely incorrect.

Not being snobbish, was just saying beer is beer and there are no taste requirements. Guess I could have said it different.

Maybe we can get this bitchfest back on topic. I'm thinking about drinking my 2010 GI Pepe Nero tonight.

No, it's absolutely false.

What current brewer backs up what you said? Probably none. The best breweries in the world use a lot of varied ingredients. An ancient law does not dictate reality.

This is the beer snob thread.

But in general I assume people using GIF images probably aren't actually angry.

Also, I'm surprised you took more offense to me posting "GTFO" rather than to me posting that we should kill you guys with fire and/or nuke you from orbit. :)

That definition is every bit as valid as any other definition of beer you could care to post.

Some do, others do not, and make beers as good as any you would care to drink with nothing but those four ingredients.

Sounds great to me. Saranac Pumpkin Ale tastes like liquid pumpkin roll IMO. Fucking love that shit.
