I did enjoy most of the Smithville, Hillsdale game. True the officials were pretty bad tonight! Both teams came to play, but Hillsdale made some great adjustments at the half. We could just feel that the Falcons were going to hit some big pass plays, and they did. It was a hard fought victory, congrats to the Falcons! Hopefully the Smithies can rough up the Bobcats in a couple weeks! It was good meeting O-Trap last night and getting to see a game with OQB! Go Falcon has to be tired from ringing that big bell all night!

listen.... I haven't been to a game because of other responsibilities but I can for a fact tell you that coach Z can read an offense and a defense. he is a very x and o sound person. Norwayne is as legit of a team as there is. I think they have proved that. as for the play calling.... ummmm.... I don't know what was the deal last week but once you're down, that book starts to get real thin, the weather this week makes it real thin... and.... lets not forget, the kids play a role. I've stated my opinion on these kids before. they are a year away. I also wouldn't be so sure if the senior class hasn't quit too. they have proven to be a little weak minded at times... just some things to think about before you start trashing the coach's knowledge...bear facts;917870 wrote:I have remained silent...but tonight...i realize where the Bear faithful are disgusted....PATHETIC playcalling. I can not understand the team I saw in the preseason scrimmages...is now GONE!!!!!!!!!!! Im a supporter of Waynedale....but this coach CANNOT read DEFENSE or OFFENSE to make adjustments. This Norwayne TEAM is VERY solid....as was the Smithville squad, but not to the tune of 88-0 over a 2 week period!!!!! There is obvisously a coaching issue......I have to day, I was disgusted with tonights play calling!!!! Zuercher is a DC at best!!!!

I honestly thought Waynedale would have shown up a little better than they did. Not sure what is happening down in the The Creek.
Congratulations to Hillsdale, nice win over a quality opponent.
Way to go Indians. Nice win over Chippewa. Hopefully a contract extension is on the desk of Coach Dennis this morning.
The Huskies are ona streak with two in a row. Look out WCAL.

Must have been night of the bad refs last night....lol. Many a bad call at the Dalton - NW game on both sides of the ball. There was one in particular that should have been called on NW on that last drive for the TD. Everyone in the NW stands saw it and we know the Dalton coach seen it as he was giving the line ref an earful. Our left tackle almost stood up he moved so much before the ball was snapped and no motion was called....lol. It was that type of calling all night.
As for the game, Dalton did a good job on moving the chains but could not finish on several occasions. Call it inexperience if you want, but there was 2 very young football teams out there tonight and it showed. Should be interesting the next couple of years.
Coaching from the NW bench continued to be predictable as it has been all year. O-trap 80% of the time. Did not work pretty much all night as teams continue to stack the line. Soph QB came in to replace the Senior and it was a refreshing change. Middle of NW defense continues to be the weak point with no adjustments from the staff. Any team that wants to beat NW has to open into a spread, even if they don't normally run a spread, and just gut the ball. Very weak in the middle from the line to the safety. Although the safety seemed to step into his role a little better last night but gave up some big plays down the middle that kept Dalton in it.
Nice passing game from Dalton last night that kept them alive almost all night. Thrilling game that someone had to lose but fun to watch.

I watched the NWN/Dalton game replay on CPI, if you are referring to the non call on the illegal procedure, then you must not have seen the other really, really bad or missed call on the last drive. The play where Northwestern was called for roughing the passer which moved the ball into the red zone. Watch it again, and you will see Moyer had crossed the line of scrimmage prior to throwing the ball. So not only did they miss that, but then they incorrectly called a roughing the passer due to the fact the defense thought Moyer was going to run with the ball as he had crossed the line of scrimmage. The announcers from CPI were in utter disbelief.
But hey, mistakes are made all the time by officials, it is just part of the game. That call or lack there of didn't effect the outcome, just made it more exciting to watch at the end.

Absolutely - this will indeed pay off. Sounds like Doty is staying positive and saying all the right things. THere is some good young talent there.
The real question I am wondering is if waynedale is actually any good. At this point of the season, the league remains divided into 3 pretty clear groups. 1)norwayne, hillsdale, smithville 2)northwestern, dalton 3)rittman, chippewa. I really don't know where to place the bears right now. Early on, I was thinking they should be mentioned in that first group but they are obviously not in the same stratosphere after the last 2 weeks. It will be interesting when they meet the dawgs and huskies.

Not much to say after last nights game. I think it went pretty much as expected. Waynedale has a couple nice athletes but they are no match for the Cats. That's not a slam on them. The Bobcats are very good. We'll find out how good in the last couple weeks of the season. Norwayne did pretty much whatever they wanted. The game could have been worse if not for some uncharacteristic dropped passes by Norwayne recievers but the field was terrible and conditions were not good. We ran and passed with much success and the 1's were out again before the 4th qtr. Norwayne is averaging nearly 50 a game on offense and has only given up 29 points in 6 games with the 1's playing 3 quarters per game or less......nuff said

Wow....where do I start? Ha ha! Beast, I thought our relationship was getting better? You are still showing your true colors though.
It was funny though. I went to the bathroom at halftime last night and had to walk along the "fence" and you should have heard all of the KNOW-IT-ALLS. They had all the answers. I wanted to say to them...you know what, your sons just got @#^$&-slapped for 24 minutes. THAT is why we are down 33-0. We came out with great intensity and marched right down the field on them but once things go bad with this group, then all heck breaks loose. You can see it in their body language and effort. Thank god we can't see their eyes from the stands because that would tell the story. Is that the coaches fault? Really? You are either born a competitor our you aren't. There is no coach in the world, that can make a kid a competitor. NONE! It comes down to attitude and pride and right now we don't have that from our leaders AND we sure as heck didn't have it with last years group. Did any of you, who were there, notice when Coach Z had to take out one of our seniors because the way he was yelling and our QB? You should have because coach made it very clear his displeasure with that player. See, we can't have that type of crap from our "leaders".
Here is the bottom line and all you "experts" should know this...we are getting DOMINATED up front. You can throw all of your other explanations out the door. FOOTBALL IS WON IN THE TRENCHES. The last 2 weeks, we have had our BUTTS handed to us by the opponents offensive/defensive lines. Now, you would first think that it is because they are stronger than us but that doesn't work here. If you go in our weight room and look up on the wall you will see ALL of our lineman have very respectable "stats" and are comparable, if not better, than a lot of our opponents. They all are PHYSICALLY strong. So why are we getting beat up front? Well, the only explanation to me would be that we are MENTALLY weak. Does that mean we lack heart? Hmmmm, you tell me. AND, tell me how many of our "Hogs" (god I loved the Redskins of the 80's) are seniors? If that offends some people, I really don't care because people OBVIOUSLY don't care what they say about our coaching staff. You know, the ones that put in HOURS and HOURS of prep time to try and get these kids ready. You know, the ones that are probably right now out at the school looking over film after film to get our boys ready for Hillsdale. I know that is part of the job but no one ever really recognizes exactly what goes into getting a football team ready week after week.
You can blame all of the playcalling you want, but if you can't provide holes/protection for your skill players then you will NEVER beat the good teams. NEVER!!! AND, if you can't put pressure on the opposing teams skill players then you are in for a loooooong night.
Jmar...you are the only one on here that "gets it". These seniors set the tone for the season on picture day. OH, I am sorry I was supposed to drop that one but I am telling you that was a red flag.
Bear facts...you just validate what I have been saying on here about the "power" these forums give people like yourselves.

Ya know a lot of those players out there are juniors not just seniors and you are an idiot for blaming the seniors for all that goes wrong. Start watching the game and you might see some of the same things others do. Holes are there but you have to run to them, you seem to have a thing for seniors is your child a junior or perhaps a sophmore, the line does not throw interceptions or fumble the ball or drop kickoffs or punts or passes. watch everyone not just the line as everyone always blames the line.Unless they win then its the backs and QBs fault.

Start watching the game? On offense or defense, MOST of the time, tell me how many of the 11 on the field are seniors? 8,9, sometimes 10 right? Hmmmm. I don't blame them for everything but sooner or later pride needs to kick in and they should provide POSITIVE leadership as a GROUP. I know that we have juniors that are making mistakes as well but they NEVER lack effort and attitude.BEARIDER;918101 wrote:Ya know a lot of those players out there are juniors not just seniors and you are an idiot for blaming the seniors for all that goes wrong. Lets not overlook the fact that these are still kids playing a game!!!!!.....Every team has years that are down...... it may not be the coaches fault or the players fault its just a fact of the game it happens. Dont put blame on a 15 or 16 year old kid.......Tell me one team in Wayne county or any other county that has not had a down year.....IT HAPPENS...........I have a feeling that every kid that came off the football field at Norwayne for Waynedale didnt enjoy what had happen to them the last couple of weeks.....Dont blame the kids.....Just like my Grandpa always told me " Sometimes your the Windshield and sometimes your the Bug"....(I think that was part of a song to)...take it for what it is and keep encouraging the kids and I dont think they need the negative put downs that some on this website are doing to them....Let them play....Remeber "ITS JUST A GAME"!!!!!!!!.....I know as a life long Bobcat fan we have been down that same road......

I agree with you bobcat, however, I am starting to see a trend with our kids and it is worries me. For years, we were the kids that played hard and kept our mouths shut while we were beating the teams that were pointing fingers at each other. It seems to me that it has reversed for us and I don't like it.bobcat14;918129 wrote:Lets not overlook the fact that these are still kids playing a game!!!!!.....Every team has years that are down...... it may not be the coaches fault or the players fault its just a fact of the game it happens. wcalfan: I would recommend you go to the video store and purchase "The Boys Of Fall" make sure you watch the whole thing and all the extras (I think about six hours) and see for yourself what coaches do to motivate a team. Motivation is instilled you are not born with it.

I didn't say you couldn't motivate a kid. However, you can do all the motivating you want but if they aren't COMPETITORS then sooner or later that will show. The true test of anyone is what they do when they face adversity. Do they step up and take on the challenge or do they point fingers at everyone but themselves? A TRUE competitor is self-motivated. Motivation is a personal thing and is most powerful when it flows straight from the athlete's heart. What drives you to achieve should always belong to you. You must have total ownership of it. When you're working towards a goal because YOU want to and it's YOUR goal, your drive and persistence will be that much stronger and longer lasting than if you were working to please someone else.wcalfan;918143 wrote:I didn't say you couldn't motivate a kid. If you as an athlete are having trouble sustaining your drive and motivation, if you're continually running on empty, motivation-wise, then the very first question you must ask yourself is "WHO am I doing this for?" If the answer that you come up with involves making other people happy or getting them to love or be more proud of you, then you have got the wrong source of motivation!

wcalfan ,these kids hang around together a lot ,they don't blame each other,at least not the ones I'm around. Haven't heard much comment about the games as they really don't care (some of them) what we spectators think of them. They do see everyone that leaves at half time when they lose a game ,started last year. The adults are quicker to quit than the kids. Oh my we aren't winning I'm leaving. I have coached some of these young men in baseball over the years and they do hang their heads when they get down ,but I wouldn't call it quitting as most of them have been coming back for more for 10 years.Just remember it is a TEAM effort and they all could pick it up a notch at times ,but then they are young and not all of them are natural born killers as some would like to think they should be and this goes for all of them not just the seniors. Myself ,I don't think over all you'll find a better bunch of young men,yea they made a mistake ,call it what you want ,but you visit a few of the local schools and what they did isn't squat compared to what goes on elswhere. You seem to be the finger pointer of whats wrong also. You don't like anyone commenting on the coaching so don't comment on the kids as I don't like your attitude about them. Me I would and have bent over backwards for some of these kids.

To use your line of thinking. For forty years Hillsdales kids just sucked. The coach had nothing to do with the last five. The kids just up and improved that much.wcalfan;918143 wrote:I didn't say you couldn't motivate a kid. im afraid the win last night might of kept dennis's job for awhile.. play calling was still pretty bad.. 4th and 1 about a foot to go for the score and dennis calls a play action boot which lost 10 yards and kept the indians from scoring in the first half. I feel bad for the chipps next week vs norwayne. Norwayne might put up 80THE4RINGZ;918004 wrote:I honestly thought Waynedale would have shown up a little better than they did.
