Calling BS on all of this!!!!!!

Last summer the "experts" said during one storm we would have multiple tornadoes and "HEAVY, HEAVY" rain! Well....... the big storm finally hit, and............ The wind blew for 10 minutes and it rained for 30 seconds!!!!! These "experts" are wrong more times than the are right! All these guys are doing is hyping this thing to get ratings! I said it last summer and I'll say it again.... They cry wolf so many times that people are tuning it out!!!! Now run and get your groceries and panic! And when we get out 1" of snow you all will have been had again!

Or because it's better to prepare for the worst and get the best than it is to prepare for the best and get the worst?

All I'm saying is these guys can be and have been wrong. Besides its Ohio, How long have you all lived here? If the "threat" of a storm makes you panic, then you aren't planning well enough to begin with! I don't need to get all worked up over this. If it happens so what..... Nobody with half a brain should die from it! I have no need to run around, like a chicken with its head cut off, thinking the world will end because of some snow, ice and wind! In case you all forget, it happens almost every year in this state, and some times more than once!

People are running around with their heads cut off in this thread? No, people are wanting to be informed.

You act like people are thinking its 2012.

I guess we all need to quit having a discussion, on a discussion based forum, because Shane is getting all worked up that we are talking about the storm.

It's just something to talk about, world's not coming to an end. I think everyone knows this.

People that actually run to the store and stock up just don't want to deal with it later, I'm included in this. Just hate pissin' with it if I really don't have to. Others actually remember NOT being able to go get shit a la '78...I also remember this.

Ice will suck as Im driving up from Kentucky to Fremont during the day Tuesday. My straight truck handles great in snow but ice sucks.

Looks pretty bad, if I was in a rural area of northern Ohio or Indiana then I'd def be making preps.

And you'll be the dumbass that doesn't prepare at all and get 2" of ice. Then I have to go in the big red truck and save your sorry ass.

You are right, a lot of times predictions are wrong and disappointing. This one is not. It's coming. I always make fun of people for going to the store before a 3" snow storm. But this time, it is warranted. Wife stocked up on staples, have gallons of water ready, generator ready, fresh batteries, etc. 1/2" of ice or more is nothing to mess with. No power and highs in the teens will teach you that lesson.

I always try to get a gameplan going on when the threat of bad weather comes. I have 2 old and sick people who depend on me to take care of them. Last Feb. I had to pack them up, clothes, medical supplies, 2 cats, 1 dog and 2 birds in my car and take them somewhere else for a week because our grid just happened to be the one that the snow and ice shredded. So, mock all you want to but some of us take it seriously.

Yeah, I just got done talking to some guys about the storm. NW Ohio may be hit fairly good.

Should be a good one for a couple days, I was wondering when it was going to come.

I don't mind 6-10 inches of snow, but I'd prefer to stay away from the ice.

If it was just 15in of snow ok then but the ice is what makes things scary.

People can make fun of me for running to the store when they are calling for bad weather all they want.

But I'll be damned if I'm getting stuck inside for an extended period of time with less than a case of beer.

Anyone else remember the bad ice storm we got about 4-5 years ago? I remember going home for the weekend in Auglaize County and my grandma's house being w/o power for almost a week. I distinctly remember looking at the power lines and seeing the tubing of ice on them.

If you are thinking of the one that hit NW Ohio, that knocked our power out for a week.

That was a pretty good ice storm.

2004. That was about 1/2" or less of ice for comparison.

According to NOAA. Tuesday high around 49 and Wednesday high around 43. No ice and snow for us, it seems.

The only thing I went out and bought today was fire logs and a pack of wood. I always like to have these in hand from fall to spring and like to have a fire going in the fireplace a few days a week.

As far as beer goes, I have over 150 bottles ageing in my computer room. Liquid Bread as I call it. I could care less about milk as I don't drink much of it, well maybe in my coffee when I'm out of half and half.

Otherwise I keep a decent supply of batteries, candles, and oil lamps, since our power was out for 4 days when Ike went through a few years ago.

This. Also, just because it didn't happen in ones backyard doesn't mean it didn't happen at all in the area.
