Anyone else tracking this storm? I have been since mid last week but tried not to get too excited. Now I'm excited. :D

I really don't want ice, which seems like a real possibility now. I logged into Accuweather to get on the forums and could help but notice is said 19.5 inches of snow on the way.

Bring it!!!!!!!!!

Whoa. The track of this monster will dictate what happens, but it looks like a doozy if all the elements align themselves.

I want to see some imperical evidence that we are getting 19" of snow. I found that the experts and not some message board nut hugger has it projected at 6"

Should have known you needed help finding a weather site. Durrrrrrr....

And if you knew shit about weather, which is obvious you don't, you would know weather.com is not the place to get your info. And the 19.5 is from a weather site (which is just a step above weather.com for predictions).

For the record, I don't think my area will see 19.5, but over 12 is not out of question.

LOL--and yet he still didn't provide you with his "weather site", and didn't say where "his area" is--could be North Dakota for all we know

Sorry, I thought he got the link he wanted. Accuweather is where that came from. But Accuweather predictions are always taken with a grain of salt. Weather.com is terrible, with Accuweather not far behind. But the forums are awesome, if you are really into weather.

Models are showing significant precipitation, whether you want to believe it or not. My area is in the 1.9" QPF area. Even with a low snow ratio of 10:1, that is 19 inches of snow. That's what Accuweather is basing that on. But the big question right now is how much will be snow, and how much ice. More ice = less snow.

And as you'll see, North Dakota isn't getting much from this storm. ;)

When is this storm supposed to hit?

I checked the extended forecast for Cincy on accuweather and they are calling for 1/2 inch of ice starting Monday night.

Where is this 10:1 ratio? Using that theory South Georgia at 3.0 would get 30" of snow.

That map shows liquid precipitation. So for areas that are snow, you have to convert the liquid to inches of snow. Snow can have ratios from 7-8:1 on up into the teens. I would say 10-12 is normal.

Same thing for ice. But ice is obviously much more dense than snow. Pretty much in line with liquid, since it's just frozen liquid.
