As for the 20k seat NBA arena, see my post about it being about maximizing revenue. Ohio State's football and basketball programs are run like a professional franchise with the motive being to generate as much revenue as possible.

They do a great job of making is people-friendly and all, but everything about the University, from my job at the Union to the $1.5 Billion hospital they're building. In my opinion it's the best way though, it is one of the largest university in the country, and in my opinion offers one of the best collegiate experiences and definitely the best in Ohio. Just my opinion though.

At the time I was there (2004-2008) the school had seven sports teams. Now they have 18 sports. Why have they more than double the size of the athletic department in three years?
